[From TR] My Treo have done a review of the Seidio Custom Vehicle Mount for the Treo 650/600. "Given that I use my Treo extensively in the car, I've been searching for a high quality mounting solution that both kept my Treo 650 within line of sight and held it securely. I've investigated a few options, including the ProClip solution that Alli Flowers reviewed a few months ago. Generally I concluded that pricing did not justify the purchase. Thankfully, Seidio created a sturdy mounting solution tailored for the Treo that fits the bill perfectly, both in terms of features and pricing."
[From Prof. Jonathan] Every one but my LifeDrive has been my favorite, because each iteration added more features and capability. I went from Pilot 1000, to PalmPilot Professional (via an upgrade), to Palm III, to IIIxe, to Tungsten C, to LifeDrive (why, oh why, oh why, did I believe the hype?!?), to my current T|X. Each time with more RAM, better display, faster processor...
I've always upgraded when my needs outstripped my Palm handheld, not because something was the latest and greatest. (Even the LifeDrive came when my Tungsten C developed cracks and Wi-Fi problems, and the T|X when the LifeDrive became too wonky to use). That's the solution to a satisfied Palm handheld user, who is now approaching his own 10th anniversary using the devices. Graffiti 1 forever! :)
We are asking you over the last 10 years what has been your favorite Palm device. Leave your thoughts in this thread on the forum.
[From jvburthingy] My favorite handheld was the Palm m515. I loved the form factor of the device (that's why I bought a T|E to replace it) and its metal casing. It was also my first color device and that meant I was able to do more than had with my m105. I had been using Launcher III on my previous handhelds and once I had my m515 I moved up to Launcher X. It had a LED and vibrating alarm both of which I used consistently. I had that device for about 2 years and then I passed it on to my 8 year-old sister who still has it today. It was by far my favorite device made by Palm.

A note before this great story! I received this Wednesday evening, but due to a bad cold, and the unfortunate effects of a timed released cold tablet, I have been asleep more than awake for the last few days! Thankfully, I am finally able to keep my eyes open again! So, better late than never, I am posting Kevin's very interesting observations of Wednesday in San Francisco at MacWorld! - Jan
Greetings Jan!
Today, we finished up touring all the displays at MacWorld. There were some definite surprises, and interesting developments.
I assume, Garmin users have heard the news, that Garmin is now going to Natively support Mac OSX on all of their USB connected devices. This, to a Garmin user like me, is MAJOR news.
One of the busiest booths was the Elgato EyeTV booth, that does all kinds of recording of shows, similar to Tivo. And, of course, being able to watch TV on your mac, which I do at work myself for the financial and news channels.
Any of you gadget freaks use Pelican products? I have used their clip on flashlight for flyfishing for years. My wife uses one of their small flashlights for her camera work, when in the dark. They have some amazing new flashlights, as well as their great protective and waterproof boxes for all our favorite gadgets.
I've included a couple of pics of the MarkSpace kiosk. These guys are amazing to us mac folks. Their Sync software gives us a leg up on the windows folks, and is a lifesaver. These guys are incredible.
The new Isee product, that uses an ipod for a video recorder has real potential. It records movies and TV on the ipod, then you can view it on its own larger screen. This file can also be transferred to the computer and viewed there, as well as hooked up to a TV.
Anyone use the ProClip mounts? They have some GREAT new ones, with audio support. Not only do they provide the mounts for holders, they now have some great new holders! Gonna be some big competition for Seidio.
And Jan? I've included one pic of a gal demonstrating various holders for ipods while exercising. I have NO idea which company, and frankly wasn't looking at their sign! I guess you were right about me searching out the young gorgeous gals!
We are outta here on Thursday morning, so.....Thats all from MacWorld from us!

Jan,
Sammy's comments about using the Treo 650 camera reminded me of this web site:
http://www.wireless-doc.com/treoportfolio.htm
There are some great photos taken with a Treo 600 and 650 and he also has a primer for Treo photography. I wish my Treo pictures would turn out so good!
- Greg
Editor's Note: I just spent some time looking at the photos on this site, as well as reading the tips for good Treo photography. The pictures are fantastic, and in a few minutes of reading, I learned a lot about backgrounds, settings, etc. for taking better pictures, not only with PDA's, but with any camera. This made me want to go experiment! Thanks Greg! Jan

Greetings Jan.
First off, note from my photos, that almost NONE of them show young gorgeous women, as you intimated was all I was going to take pics of!
My one slide was of a couple of gals from Chums, because I have been a customer of them for so many years (for sunglass holders/straps) for flyfishing.
I was shocked and pleased to see all the ipod cases and bags they have come out with. Gals, especially, if you want a tech inspired bag, you would do well to check them out on the web. www.chums.com
The big story here at MacWorld is the two new Intel macs introduced. The first, the new iMac, is available immediately. The second, the new MacBook pro is amazing, and will be out in February. Next, if you thought there were divides in the Mac vs. PC camps up to now, its gonna get worse.
The new advertising slogan "What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac? A whole lot more than its ever done in a PC" is going to raise some hackles. No doubt it is going to be fodder for the extreme mac and extreme pc camps. Expect bloodshed at some internet cafes.
The first pics are of folks lining up for the Keynote speech by Steve Jobs. Apparently, this is the largest audience ever. Many of the folks were put in overflow rooms, with large theatre size screens.
There is an amazing array of ipod accessories, as well as audio and video programs and tools.
Microsoft has a large display for their Office suite, and continue to say they are fully supportive of their Macintosh division. They stated this was the best year ever for Microsoft's Mac division.
The automotive displays were amazing. One of the most extreme, that I have seen on the web on their blog, is the Volkswagen GTI with the Mac Mini installed, with a touch screen, and Ipod integration. The guy that does this has started a nice little business building ipod mounts for cars. His stuff is amazing.
We also saw a Mercedes, that plays Ipod Video on its navigation screen. Bit off the wall for me, but whatever toots your horn!!
More pics.
Sorry for the quality of the pics, but I took them all with a Treo 600, which has to have one of the worst cameras ever made. Perhaps I will take some with my Canon tomorrow, and send a few more.
I was there today from 7am to 4pm with a break for lunch, and at least now know what I want to take decent pics of. (and I am sure I will find some young gorgeous girls to take pics of!)

Apple just introduced the MacBook Pro today at MacWorld in San Francisco. This is their new Duo Intel cpu machine and their first Intel laptop. Should you buy one? There are some serious omissions on this new laptop.
1. No PC Card slot, it now has something called ExpressCard/34 which will be the new standard for expansion cards. So if you use a networking PC Card, or PC card reader for memory cards or want to buy that spankin' new Bluetooth mouse that recharges in the PC Card slot you're out of luck. What kind of terrific Express Cards can we use? None yet, there aren't any for sale yet that would work in this Mac.
2. No Firewire 800. Is Apple conceeding Firewire to Intel's push for USB?
3. No S-Video port built-in, my current PowerBook has one. So much for that S-Video projector you bought. Notice only five ports on the right side of the laptop instead of seven.
4. No RJ-11 jack for dial-up modems. The last fallback on connectivity to the Internet is gone. Many older hotels don't have broadband, just that double RJ-11 dohickey adapter on the phone jack.
5. The new MagSafe power adapter that falls out if you trip on your power cord. Good idea but now all those extra power adapters you own and every third party adapter manufacturer is SOL. Apple should make a ton of money selling extra power adapters.
6. Battery life information is MIA from the tech specs page. Just how fast is this thing going to suck down the batteries?

Responding to the post about editing webpages on the Palm, I used Torpedo HTML Editor for years and LFtp to upload the files to my server. I stopped using it after the developer went MIA. They also have a nifty CSS editor called Freestyle. I believe they are still available on Palmgear. Their website is pinetreesoftware.net.
Editor's Note: I checked this website and, as Dave mentions, there is a notice that as of October 2005, PineTreeSoftware no longer exists. A search for the software, however, shows that it is still available on many websites, including PalmGear. - Jan

Hi Jan
Regarding the comments on FrameTX below - it worked fine on my TX but I didn't like the look it gave - I just deleted it and soft reset and all was back to normal.
