Only with a Centro.

Well, I just spent the past 3 days in San Diego with my Palm Centro only. It felt great not having to carry my laptop everywhere. I was able to get everything done I needed to without using my laptop. Using the web and email was a breeze, and using the small keyboard wasn't that bad. GoogleMaps came in handy a LOT. If I had to do it all over again, I'd leave my laptop at home and take only my Centro still.

A Centro Trip.

As I am typing this, I am currently driving down south to San Diego for Spring Break. I decided to take on a challenge this week... take only my Centro with me and leave my laptop at home. I think I can manage it, and to be quite honest, I think I will like doing this a lot more than lugging my laptop around. Plus, I won't need to worry about losing my laptop this trip. I'll be posting updates during my trip via TypePad Mobile with how it is working out with my Centro only and also how I will be using it on a daily basis.

Time passer.

Th_00palmcentro2I returned to work today for the first time in 3 weeks. I've been sick and on paid leave. Well I got a great surprise when I walked in to work today. I was locked out of all of my work's systems. It took talking to about 7 different people on the phone and 3 hours to gain access again. THANK GOD I had my Centro with my though. Through out the whole time, I was juggling between text messaging people and playing a few games.

Sprint cares... really.

Th_id_sprint_logo1 Something weird happened yesterday. I woke up at 11am and the first thing I did was grabbed my Centro and started reading my morning RSS feeds via RescoNeeews. After about 15mins, I was done reading my feeds and decided to text message some people. Well after I sent my first text, my Centro froze. Never having this kind of problem before, I removed my battery and then put it back in. My Centro didn't turn on. I was scared. I then removed the battery and hooked it up to the AC charger, and it still didn't turn on. Thankfully, I have Sprint's insurance plan for $7 a month so I hopped in my car and worked my way to the nearest repair center/store. When I got there, the associate couldn't get it to turn on either and said it there's problem a short circuit somewhere, so he told me to come back in 45mins while their technician looked at it. When I came back, I was shocked at what he told me. "The technician looked at your Centro about 15mins after you left, and he was able to turn it on just fine the first time he touched it. It must have been fluke, or something like that." He was nice enough to say though that if the problem occurred again, I could just bring my Centro in and automatically get it replaced with a new one without the technician looking at it. That's what I like to call customer service.

A "Centro" Birthday

Cake Happy birthday ME! I just hit the big 1-9. I'm about to call it a night because I got a big day ahead of me today. My Palm Centro is literally going to be the "center" of my day... It's going to handle all the incoming birthday calls/texts as well as keep me organized with what time and who I will be meeting with to celebrate such a glorious day. I hope everyone has a great day because I know I will be having one [=.

Texting has never been better

Why do I love my Palm Centro? One word... texting. Texting with my Centro is so easy. It's so nice to be able to text someone and have all of our texts exchanged combined in to a "conversation." If there is one thing Palm has always done right, it's texting.

An earthquake has nothing on my Centro

The Bay Area (California) was hit with a magnitude 5.6 earthquake tonight. I was about 20 miles away from the epicenter of the quake, and luckly I was fine. The quake was strong enough though to knock out cell phone service and landlines. Some how though, data still worked on my Centro, so I was able to hop on Toccer and make sure my friends and family were safe. No injuries have been reported, so it seems as though this was only a minor rumble. And to only think the Bay Area is still way over due for the next big quake...

Ringo beta released (Centro support added)

Electric Pocket has released a new beta version of Ringo today. New in this beta is support for the Palm Centro, a handful of bug fixes/new features, and a new GUI. This new beta is working great on my Centro and it can be downloaded here.

I got my hands on a Palm Centro

My local Sprint store received four Palm Centro’s on Sunday, and I was lucky enough to get one of them. The whole time I was in the store, the phone was ringing off the hook with callers asking if they had any more Centro’s in stock (and of course the answer was "No!").

Before I got the Centro, I've been using the 755p for the past few months. Comparing the Centro to the 755p is like comparing oranges to peanut butter, they are two totally different devices. The Centro feels so much faster than the 755p. The lag is totally gone when switching between programs and it also feels like the internet speed has also improved. The form factor of the Centro is so so nice. It fits perfectly into my hand and the keyboard only took about 5 minutes of getting used to. I am now typing just as fast as I was with my 755p.

The Centro has a small number of software updates. One of the best software updates I am enjoying so far is to VersaMail. A new feature in VersaMail is the ability to sync your mail while outside of the mail app. For example, I can launch VersaMail, click "Get Mail", mess around in the Calendar application, and when I go back in to VersaMail, all of my new mail is there for me to read.

I have no intentions of making this right now in to a full review, so I'll end my bragging here. I highly suggest though that when you have a chance, you check out the new Palm Centro in a Sprint or Palm store for yourself. You'll be amazed.

The party scene

The party scene and my Treo just go together. This is how my Friday usually goes.

After work, I make a few calls and hear about the parties for the night. I get the people who I am on the phone with to text me the addresses after we hang up. From there, I launch Google Maps and get directions from my house. Once I am out on the town, I use Google Maps to find my way from party to party.

And it's as easy as that. And ofcourse I use my Treo to store the numbers of all the beautiful girls I meet through out the night [=.
