A short review for BackupBuddy.Net Pro

Just saw the public announcement of BBNet.Pro. As a beta-tester, I have been using it for several months. Here is my thoughts.

Everybody knows how important a backup solution is. And since Treo is an alway-on device, backing up all or part of your data to an online server makes a lot of sense. I don't want to get into all the UI or details of how it works. Just to share my real-world experience. Actually, during my several months' test, I used BBNet to restall my system at least twice and every time it went very smoothly. And I really perfer the way they put everything together - KISS (keep it simple stupid).

The developer Alexis and Scott are very responsive. They co-operated with Marc, the developer of the famous ChatterEmail, and fixed the reset problem within several days.

In recent update, they added the requested feature that is user-defined backup. You can manually select what you want it to backup. So in case you have some confidential data, you are not forced to backup them.

Just give it a try and I am sure you will find it really invaluable!

A free Sudoku software

Yvonne just asked if there is a free Sudoku software that she can try. Well, here is the one I really like. http://www.scss.com.au/family/andrew/pdas/palm/myprogs/sudoku/

The UI is the one of the best I have ever tried. Although AstraWare's Sudoku has some features I really like, I am still thinking $20 is a bit too much for a game which already kills too much of my life (time) :)

What Happens when you steal a cell phone

Well, a guy in NYC lost a SKII. He offered reward to the girl who found it in the taxi (someone said she paid for it) refused to return it. Then the guy opened a simple, no ads site just to show what is wrong and what is right. The site is only up for about 2 days, but already catched tons of eyeballs.

Personally I agree with what he did. People should know what is right thing to do.

Here is the link, judge by yourself :)

First Treo 800 rumor? Not

TjL kindly mentioned the post on TC about the "new Treo 800". But sadly, it's a post started on 9/14/2004. And if you read further down, you will find that it's actually started from TC and the author admitted that it's a PS job.

I know Treo is so hot recently. Someone even claim that a new update for 650 will be out tomorrow. Everything looks great, except for the wifi support which is not even on the newest 700p which makes me highly doubt about it.

Only time can tell :)

Nice review for cell phones on PCworld

Was checking PCworld this morning and found this. It's not limited to Treo and BB, but they did say some quite nice things about Treo.

"both phones and PDAs, Treos work very well. Palm deftly integrates its call-management software, on-screen dialpad, and numeric keypad, which makes sending and receiving calls a snap."

Although they listed SDA as their top choice. :(

GetNews (2day plugin)

Not sure if anyone is also using the wonderful plugin 2days from shsh. Personally, I love it, as well as TakePhone, which is another wonderufl piece (talk about it later).

Just yesterday, I browse through www.treocentral.com and found a news plugin for 2day called "GetNews". Here is the link, http://sivilsoft.blogspot.com/2005/12/getnews-public-beta.html

It's free and in public beta. So why not give it a try.

My first post

Hi all. So glad to be the latest AW here :)

First, a little bit about my Palm experiences. I am using Treo 650 on T-mobile now. Also, I bought a TX for my wife, so she will not hold my treo all night long for ebooks ;=P

Started with a IIIx, then M500, then Toshiba E300, 330...Really missed PALM OS for its simplicy. So I moved back when Treo 600 was out. Evetually, 650 caught mt eyes. And so far, I am still loving it. Tried MDA, SDA, PPC6700 and nothing can beat my closing-to-one-year-old Treo.

Well, that's all for now. And "I will be back" :-)
