No ordinary charger (Ted Baker)

No ordinary designer charging kit (Ted Baker) Ted_baker

Do you need a great charging kit for your iPod Touch?

My iPod Touch has become my primary device replacing my Dell Axim 51v, Palm Lifedrive, and Palm TX. My iPod Touch gets heavy use every day with Wi-Fi, a multitude of programs, videos, and pictures in constant demand. Thus my major need was to extend my battery life.

In dire need I turned to Proporta. (Check them out, they are a unique business family of inventive, creative, and hard-working folks, with a rich history from its humble beginning as PalmTEc of delivering support products for our technological cravings)

The answer for me was their No ordinary designer charging kit (Ted Baker).

This device is built off the model of the Proporta Mobile Device Charger but the folks over at Ted Baker put a real touch of class to its design.

What I was looking for was a unit that would compliment my beautiful iPod touch. It had to be practical, functional, easily cartable in a pocket, providing a large electric capacity for multiple charges, unique with high tech appearance, and tough enough for the rigors of hard every day use.

This unit has a 3400 mAH Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, USB charging port, included AC adapter, cigarette adapter, and multiple adapters for other devices.

It takes a while to get it fully charged, but once it is ready to go it was able to give three full charges before a recharge of the device was required.

This device is definitely functional, it is also beautiful, and nearly the size of my iPod touch, well built and even comes with a soft chocolate brown velour carrying case although I prefer carrying it in my pocket.

This device is definitely worth checking out. It has given me the additional extended battery life I needed to separate my iPod Touch from my previously utilized devices.

I believe the build quality is great, battery capacity for multiple charges is wonderful, the cost of $49.95 dollars is a very good value, and the ease of use is a fantastic plus.

Proporta gets a five of five stars in my book for this wonderful product.

So if you are dialed into the iPod Touch like I am, the No ordinary designer

Charging kit (Ted Baker) SKU: 21384 from Proporta could be the device for you.

Have a most excellent day!

Palm Quick Tip

Beba03178f39b78c014f5c1ac5e50e17l For years I carried a multitude of ebooks on my Palm device without them ever being finely organized. Just think if you walked into a library and it took you hours to find a book because there was no orderly system to use?

Therefore the Palm Quick tip for today is effective ebook filing on your Palm device. Today I will talk about the free Ereader Pro. Once this software is loaded on your palm device all you have to do is start downloaded ebooks or even free e-material from memoware and store them on your SD card.

Open Ereader Pro and it will find all the e-material on your device. OK, When you open Ereader Pro two icons are very important for what we want to accomplish here. The far leftmost icon is the menu icon and the circle with the "i " is the information icon.

First let's tap the menu icon. It opens up a number of different options you can use to alter the way Ereader Pro works, for now let's tap the Open area. Now you can see all of the e-materials on your device.

Look to the upper right-hand corner tap the drop down arrow, hit edit categories. Add whatever categories you may want. You can always alter them at some other time. Click ok after each and when you are done.

Now you should be back to your entire library. Click on one of your materials, once it opens click on the little information icon. Quess what, there is the wonderful Palm OS category drop down. Just find the category you want to store your material in click it and click ok. Continue this process until all of our materials are in categories.

It is a bit of work on the front end but next time you open Ereader Pro, click on the menu icon and open to your library you can go straight to the categories and find the item you want to read very quickly.

It seems to help getting through materials better in this fashion and after this manner also.

Have a wonderful day!

Palm Quick Tip

Palm_tx Good Morning here with another Quick tip for the new Palm TX user.

Have you ever wanted to quickly see what programs you have been using or quickly get back to a previous program?

On the bottom of your Palm TX there are four buttons. The button on the far left has a house on it. This is your home button. Simply depress this button and continue to hold it down for a few seconds. Jus above this button a dialog box will pop us showing you your last six programs operations used. Simply tap the one you want to go to.

Now that was a cool Palm idea.

I sure am excited waiting for the next Palm great idea which I am sure will include a new OS and a far out hardware set up.

I am imagining a really simply and intuitive new OS with some really cool features.

Have a wonderful day!

Palm Quick Tip

Pr_tx_device For all new Palm TX Owners check out Palm's homebrew of the launcher.

The launcher is a term that relates to a quick way to initiate programs. Palm has come up with a nifty item called Favorites that makes accessing programs really easy.

Across the bottom of your Palm TX device are four buttom. The button on the far left that looks like a house is the Home button. Push this button once and it takes you to your Palm loaded programs. You know when you are here because you will see the category with a drop down item in the upper right hand corner. (You can click on this drop down item go to edit categories and set up different categories to put your programs in for easy program location. I will go into that more on another Palm Quick tip later)

Click the Home button again and you arrive at Favorites. To formulate this area click on the clock area in the upper left hand corner of your Palm Desktop. Several options appear; Options ( this allows you to change your screen background more on that in another Palm Quick tip), Edit favorites, and Rearrange Favorites.

For today let's hit the Rearrange Favorites tab. You will note on this page in the bottom right hand corner there are four pages. This is really cool because you can drag items to different pages as long as there is room. Go ahead and try it. Just hold on an item and drag it to a page number. Pretty cool huh?

Ok also on this page you can move programs up or down the page you are on if you want to change the order. Try it, just grab an item and move it up the page. But the thing I really want to show you is how to bring a program to this Favorites page.

Simply tap on a listing section, and Edit Favorite dialog box should come up. The type category has a drop down arrow, two choices- App or Web Link, for now let's choose APP. Below this section there is a category called Original with a drop down arrow next to it. Hit the drown down arrow and you will see all of the programs on your Palm. Simply click on the one you want and the name will fill in on the Name box, then click OK. Continue this process for every page and you will have quick acess to your programs.

Have a wonderful day!

Palm quick tip

Beba03178f39b78c014f5c1ac5e50e17l

Palm Quick tip:

I love the simplicity of the Palm OS and with great anticipation am I waiting for the next great Palm product to arrive. In the mean time I thought I would throw some Palm Quick tips out there for anyone who might appreciate them. Today I will begin with finding contacts quickly in your Palm Contacts book. Two great keys dominate my thinking when it comes to quickly locating contacts.

Key 1: Use the Palm Catagories- When you open the Palm contacts you will see ALL on the right top side of your screen with a drop down arrow to the left of it. Simply click on ther drop down arrow and tap edit categories. Hit new enter the new category and press OK. You can repeat this process and add quite a few. Now when you enter a new contact in the upper right hand corner click on the unfiled category listing and click the category you want your new contact in. The key to finding items quickly is putting them in categories. The idea of categories is built all through the Palm OS. Use it and finding your information will be easy.

Key 2: Having items in categories is a real time saver but watch this. Open your contacts, set your categories to all. Now go to the  bottom of the page open your graffti area and write just a couple of letters of someones name in the Look up: area. You will see a listing of the names is your contacts list above.

Isn't that cool. Now no one will be able to manually find an address or name in a rolidex faster than you can on your Palm PDA.

Just a Palm Quick tip.

Have a wonderful day!

DATEWHEEL

Dw3mainshadow

I am sure many of you have heard of a great program called Trip Boss 3.0 which works on Palm OS 3.0 and higher, from a company called Creative Algorithms LLC CREATIVE ALGORITHMS a Chicago Illinois developer of web-based application for desktops, laptops ad mobile devices and of native Palm OS shareware and freeware applications for smartphones and PDAs.

But have you heard of Date Wheel?

It is a simple program that cost $14.95, comes with a 30 day free trial, and Calculates the time between two dates in months, weeks, days, and business days.  Save tasks for future reference.

From a Business perspective Date Wheel is the electronic version of the plastic wheel-shaped calendar used by businesses to calculate lead times.  It can also be used to calculate the time between two dates or to calculate the Julian date for any day of the year. Some of the major business items I use it for are Planning Construction Projects, Estimating time on Long lead Materials, Time Management, and tracking my wife’s doctor’s appointments

From a personal perspective Date Wheel is a fun tool to calculate time frames between today and special events like, holidays, vacations, birthdays, and anniversaries.

The tool is simple to use, supports 5 way navigation, you can even manipulate the onscreen controls with your fingers (that’s right Palm has had a touch screen for years) and it comes with a number of great tips that cover program usage and it works wonderful on my Palm TX.

Give it a try I think it will be a great addition to your Palm software inventory. You really can not beat a 30 day free trial.

Have a wonderful day!

The device of our dreams

Lifedrive20vertical The search for the most excellent device.. Gadget addicts across the world are on a continuous search for he perfect device that will enable them to perform the operations they dream of, at the speed of thought. Is it a converged device, a stand alone PDA, or even a device  that has failed to enter the imagination of man.. At times we are in a quandary as to why device and software makers do not assemble the perfect device for us. Is it business reasons that cancel its construction? Cost versus post run profits, is it lack of imagination or is it visualization versus reality?

Regardless, the gadget addict dreams on.. This dreaming can almost drive one mad if the boundaries are not contained. Calm down lads and laddies for now just make the best of what devices are available..Unnecessary prolonged stress wishing someone would make the device of your dreams can be hazardous to your health and your peace. (smile)

Sooner or later a new  and enterprising young company will begin producing devices never before imagined. I am longing for a device that can do what a Pocket PC can do with the simplicity of a Palm device, wrapped in the innovation and coolness of an Apple device.

The device of our dreams.. Will today be the day it comes to market?
