Vaja cases

Acoconutshell_fwoodrose
As it's Valentine's Day why not treat the special one in your life to something unique...no, not your wife or hubby, I'm talking about your pda. Vaja cases are considered by some to be the Rolls Royce of cases, no that doesn't mean they drink fuel like a fish or weigh about 10 tonnes, it means the cases are expertly handcrafted and hugely customisable...they are however, like a Roller, a tad pricey. For the ladies, how about a T5 or T/X case in 2 tone "coconut shell" and 'woodrose floater"...mmmmm...sounds good enough to eat...and for the gents, "monk robe" and "black" floater". What's that I hear you cry? Yes, they do do them in black for all you philistines out there! I'd like one of these I must admit as I've heard really good things about them, I'll need to save up first though. You can get cases from Vaja for loads of different gadgets so if you're feeling flush, have a look at how the other half live!!

wifi thoughts

Photo_treo650_overview_1
There's been a lot of discussion around here both on the site and the forum about Palm's decision not to support the wifi on the treo 650. I've been using treo's for a while now, had my 600 in October 2003 and then upgraded at the first opportunity to a 650 in April last year. Personally, although I have a lot of sympathy for all you captains of industry out there who find your treo 650's are like rudderless ships without wifi, I have to say it doesn't bother me too much. I've got wifi on my T/X and my previous Tungsten C but never used it and even if the treo 650 had wifi, again I'd probably never need it. I don't use the internet much on the treo, basically just to keep up with the live football scores on a Saturday if I'm out and about. Wifi or not, there are still a lot of great pda's out there which can be used in a whole multitude of ways to make your daily life a bit easier or more productive or whatever you need it to be so don't get too despondent guys'n'gals...who knows, perhaps the next great treo palm phone will have it built in and in a years time we'll have forgotten what all the fuss was about.

Palm Stock Split!

For happy PALM shareholders on February 28th, a 2-for-1 stock split on March 15th. Good deal!

The Motley Fool stumped for Palm a while back and I'm glad they did.

Card Readers

Sandisk_12in1reader214x184
For the last couple of years I've been using a usb 1 card reader. This has worked fine for me and has been reliable but a little slow. It can take up to 10 minutes for example to transfer a dvd onto a sd card when writing. At the weekend I purchased a new card reader as the current one was starting to act oddly. The new one is a usb2 device and what an astonishing difference there is in speed when writing to the card. A 508mb dvd was copied onto my sd card in under 3 minutes, I couldn't believe the difference! Well worth thinking about if you're in the market for a new card reader, get a usb2 or firewire one.

Snow!

Photo_021206_001We must have at least 18" of snow here in New Jersey. It snowed all night and at 10am it is still coming down. A Treo 650 picture, of course.

Inforemer Golf Management System

Gpsinforemer_1

Here's a gadget for all you golfers out there!

Here's what ubergizmo has to say about the Inforemer Golf Management System:

"The Inforemer Golf Management System is a GPS and WiFi-enabled device that brings the golfing experience to the next level. You can now see any golfer or cart anywhere on your course, and even weed out the potential bottlenecks by alerting a nearby marshal. A storm is brewing? Not a problem – just send a message over to other golfers to clear the green. Too bad it won't make your putting any better."

BenQ-Siemens to unveil quartet of new phones

Benq_1
"Looks like the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona will see the BenQ-Siemens line of cellphones named after Greek and Roman deities. The Venus C3 is a music-oriented clamshell cellphone while the Ulysses B1 is small, lightweight and fashionable 3G phone. The Hermes B is an entry-level music phone that comes with top-facing audio playback buttons and the Cupid targets business users with its simple design and idiot-proof functions."
