[From Stephen Trew] The British voice is very nice, but I do prefer the American female voice. Siri is such a personal experience that I think Siri should have a single gender worldwide. The mixing up of he/she is confusing. I understand the reasons for different genders around the world, Apple does not want to seem sexist or stereotyping and some countries could even object to a female or male voice as an assistant. But we do remember the famous 'speaking' robots from science fiction - Hal from 2001, C3PO - as individuals. Siri at the moment is not an individual and this confuses his/her identify. Perhaps Apple should use the US voice as a default and allow customised accents if the user wants to change it. Read the story in full.
