[From Chris] One thing that is somewhat annoying about my iPod Touch (3rd Gen, 64 GB) is that the apps get updated so quickly! :) I have 701 apps on my Touch and about 2 to 12 apps show up as having updates every day. [I recently moved and my iTunes Library got deleted accidentally. I have yet to restore the Library from a backup so that I can re-sync the iPod Touch and clean out a lot of apps that I don't need to use now]. I now live in a certain big east Asian country where my internet connection has been pretty flakey. Overall, the DSL access in this country is much better than in the U.S., but my current service is pretty poor. The internet speed slows down inexplicably at times (unfortunately, most of the time). In the past, connection to the iTunes store was blocked, and I used a VPN to get around that. However, my internet connection seems to drop unexpectedly after I try using the VPN. On top of that, when the VPN is on, my download speed is only around ≤ 10 K/s (which is the download/upload speed for Gmail here also).
Because I have been busy lately, I haven't been able to sit down and check for app updates for a few weeks. As a result, my iPod Touch accumulated over 130 potential updates. In the past, I would have just hit the "Update All" button, but it would take days to update all those apps over my connection. Not only that, the iPod Touch has an annoying problem when upgrades fail. After upgrade failure, I often have to restart the Touch (turn it off and then on) to get the upgrade to restart. When that happens, all the apps that have not been successfully upgraded fall out of their folders. I have to manually put them back into their respective folders afterwards.
The upside of having to update my apps one by one is that I can catch updates that are broken. For example, two apps---VLC Streamer and 100 Rogues--have notices on the App Store telling users NOT to update because the updates are broken. I would have totally missed those messages if I just hit the "Update All" button.
Maybe the slow internet connection is keeping you from accessing the app store. So there are times when even the iTunes store doesn't work well. It could be an indication that the internet service has a serious the problem and not the website.
