Nosy Crow sent me a promo code for their new App, Three Little Pigs. I don’t think I need to recite the plot line for you. I found the book to be quite cute and liked their implementation of the app. It gives the child three choices: read and play, have the story read to him, and read it by herself. As you can see in this short video the app is done in a British accent, but I don’t think it is thick enough to confuse a US child. I a couple of cases British slang is used. For example “puffed” is used for "exhausted", and this might require some parent explanation for a US kid. The animation is cute and smooth and there’s a lot a kid can do. Most importantly, everything is self-explanatory so I don’t think a child will get lost trying to figure out what is going on. It’s US$ 7.99 (£4.99) in the App Store for the iPad version and US$3.99 (£2.39) for the iPhone/iPod version. Here’s a short video of the beginning to give you a feel for it.
