Friends, it's been quite some time since I've posted on PalmAddicts but this bit of news was enough to rouse me and log on. I'm sure many are familiar with MetrO developed by Patrice & Frank of Kinevia. It's been a staple for Palms, Blackberries, Symbian and Windows Mobiles for years. After a little encouragement, okay A LOT of encouragement (with a touch of bribery, blackmailing, cajoling, donations and praise) they finally and I say FINALLY came out with MetrO for the iPhone. One of my absolute required apps for any smartphone, after finding out this was in development I went ahead and switched over to the iPhone (although I have to say the Pre is oh so PREtty.)
Granted Google Maps now has transit information built in the greatest thing about MetrO is an internet connection is not required which bodes well for people like me. I do a lot of subway travel and of course Chicago is not alone in the world when it comes to underground commuters. San Franciso, New York and Paris have become less of a labyrinth with the help of MetrO. I highly suggest this app, no matter what platform you are on so swing by their site and try it out. The iPhone version has built in Google Maps so you can see where you are and that's just the beginning. Patrice & Frank have released this under version 0.9.0 so we still have plenty to look forward to in this new iteration of MetrO!
iPhone users can go to the App Store of course and to sort out the numerous MetrO apps, look up Kinevia.
