I constantly have seen here on Palmaddicts post about MacOS X features and updates, wich is ok ‘cause wheter we like it or not, we still need our desktops to sync and backup our devices, I rarely see something good about Windows even when I don’t think Windows Vista is that bad… is not perfect but a lot of people over reacted; However yesterday at Microsoft PDC (professional developers conference) show a pre beta of Windows 7 and not only it looked great but also seems a lot of improvement of speed, funcionality and new features.
The presentation lasted more than 2 hours, but I would like to remark a few things that I think are awesome.
First they show Windows 7 on a new HP Pavillion with touchscreen and the integration of the system even with older apps is great, for us using a touchscreen device for a while this is great ‘cause finally we can interact with the system in a more natural way.
Microsoft also show the device center wich sumarizes all the connected devices, including phones (hopefully smartphones too, only I hope not only winmobile based) and show a windows with all the info of the device like: available space, sync options, backup, music and more this could turn out great.
I could write a large post about what I saw online yesterday a lot of cool features and the press and developers seems to be pleased about yesterday’s presentation a lot of shouts and joy like on apple’s presentations.
It is nice to see that some features on pdas and phones are going to be in the new Windows 7, plus the integration with this devices promises good stuff. Good work Microsoft seems that you have re taken the path of innovation, I hope that the same innovation and hard work are going to be present on Windows Mobile 7 too.
That’s what happens when you listen carefuly to your users. This should be a lesson to other developers about biulding a new OS. Huh… Palm!!
