[From Andrew Sheppard] Sammy,
Now that the plug has been pulled, and we are watching Lehman Brothers leading the rest of the US economy spiralling around and going down the toilet, possibly flushing the rest of the world's job prospects with it, I am amazed at how easily my Palm allows me to bring back memories .............
Of course, I have no need of them now, but keeping appointments and memos from many years ago on my Palm is easier than getting rid of them. A search for "Lehman" shows all those meetings, deadlines and contacts that don't mean very much any more. I didn't actually work for LB, but they were my company's client before and after September 11th 2001, when we were glad that we had already started working on "security" projects.
Since then, people close to me have been hired and recently fired by Lehman Brothers. This is a long weekend in Japan, which is why they announced it today, so we were at the beach. Somehow, our remote village now has WiFi, so we could connect using the MacBook Air and check the news.
Since a lot of financial-industry high-flyers come down to the same beach for weekends, we had a lot of fun asking people we met who worked for Lehman Brothers whether they were going to work the next day. Ain't life a beach?
