This morning I took a cab to go to work because my car is being repaired. While in the taxi, since I was not driving, I spent the time sending a few text messages (SMS). It was still morning, but the sunlight was already very bright. While I was texting with my O2 Xda IIi PDA Phone, the sunlight reflected on the screen, making it hard to see. I suddenly remembered reading something about the OLPC XO-1, that laptop from Nicholas Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child project. A quick visit to Wikipedia just now in this entry shows that the laptop is designed so that it can be used in bright light such as sunlight. Now, I know there is a term for this feature, but I do not remember what it is. But anyway, this is an interesting idea. I mean, if Palm or PDA users are those who work outdoor all the time, it will be rather essential for them to have such a feature on their mobile device. Outside they will not need to duck into a shade just to use their mobile devices; they can use the devices under the sunlight. Perhaps not everyone needs this, so maybe this feature is optional, but for those who need this it will be very nice. Just a thought.
