Hi Sammy! I love your website, I come back every day for all the new news!
Over the weekend I found a
new FREE program, the new version 1.0 just released
by Alexander Pruss:
The program was designed to let you pick and choose which programs get
activated when your Palm resets. Normally, EVERY program gets notified,
which not only slows down the boot, but it also ends up fragmenting your
memory. In particular, users with newer models and NV RAM can have problems
with their "NVFS DB Cache" getting so fragmented that some programs
(notably Garmin's GPS XT navigation software) won't even start.
As always with this sort of program, backup first. Turning off the
notification for certain programs can have unintended consequences. Your
ebook reader not need to run at system reset, but you'll certainly want
to make sure your alarm clock still knows to wake you up tomorrow! Any be
very VERY careful when disabling some of the system ROM programs, or else
you may not be able to access various pieces of your device's hardware!
But all in all, this program was very easy to configure and to use.
