[From Mark] No, I don't mean the convergence of disparate technologies into a single form factor (e.g. the convergence of a cell phone, pda and mp3 player). I mean the convergence form. This convergence is good for the consumer. Smartphones are starting to look alike. Blackberry got rid of its side wheel for a pearl, which looks a lot like the Treo's 5-way button. The Treo and iPhone have touch screens. The screens of the Blackberry, Treo and iPhone have outstanding resolution. Doesn't the Blackberry Bold and the Treo look alike? I am not talking about the OS. The hardware companies are lowering the threshold between hardware. We can now more easily convert, for example, from a Treo to a Blackberry then ever before. The form factor is becoming more of commodity. We will start making the judgment to buy into an OS based almost exclusively on the software and less upon on how the phone works -- but we will always care about how cool it looks.
