On a very rencent article in APC Palm's CEO Ed colligan talks about the palm near future. It seems that palm finally sees where is going. We haven't seen any of the new OS yet, yes we know it is called for now Nova OS and a few spy shoots of a upcoming WM 6 based the devices but the new design gave us hope.
Good things can be extracted from de article:
Nova and the Palm OS we all love (and hate sometimes) will continue to powerup our devices, according with Palm's CEO, Nova will be heavily oriented to Web 2.0. The good thing is that, if nove is so web based, the wifi will be a requirement for sure, also it requieres a good browser so we will finally see a good bundled browser (so long blazer). Palm is evolving and even in the hard times is thinking on the future, a new set of Palm OS devices will come our way, improved better, linux based and compatible with our loved apps (we have thrown some money in our devices). Ed Colligan also mentioned something about Foleo's return, actually i'm a bit dissapointed that Foleo never came out, it was ok for me, a small, very portable, laptop like device, with his own OS... wait a minute very similar to the very very popular Asus EEE PC (i want one). Foleo was cancelled... too bad but it seems that it may come back bundled with Nova or something like that, based in linux, just like a EEE PC.
The future of palm is close to be revelead, in the next months we'll see what is on Palm desk right now. I just want to know how linux kind of like the system will be... it will be as open as linux (so we can see ports of firefox, open office or whatever) or it will protect the developers... who knows!! But i wouldn't mind finding ports of apps on my Palm device in the future.
I'll kepp checking how it will be our future smartphone and PDA (don't forget palm used to make pdas for living). Good Palm tells us more... we us excited
