Much as I've tried over the last while, I am feeling myself being drawn inexorably toward Apple's iPhone. I've been a loyal Palm (and Handspring user) dating back to practically the start of the decade, starting off with the Treo 270 and moving through the 600, 650 and on to my current companion the 750. However, it is with a degree of increasing disillusionment that I continue as a Palm user.
Even though the iPhone has yet to be released in Ireland, I find myself browsing eBay for iPhone bargains. I am not entirely happy about this situation but the lack of any real innovation from Palm in the last, well the last five years if the truth be known is extremely frustrating. I had become very interested in the imminent arrival of the Foleo late last year, but was sorely disappointed when Palm announced that the Foleo would be shelved until further notice.
I am sure I am not alone in feeling like this, but one does have to feel that Palm are now virtually bankrupt as far as new ideas are concerned - their roadmap for the coming year doesn't seem any more exciting than what has just gone before us in 2007.
Perhaps, I'll try and have the courage to stick with Palm for a few months longer in the hope that we'll see something revolutionary this year - but alas I think the great days might well be over.
