Matt Miller] I have owned dozens of Palm OS based devices since I started using a Pilot 1000 back in 1997 and went through a spell there where I was buying and selling the wonderful Sony CLIE devices every few months. There was one particular CLIE device that still stands as my ultimate favorite Palm OS device, the CLIE UX50. I vividly remember the July 2003 hunt at local CompUSA stores where I took my daughters to look in ernest for this elusive device. I had just purchased a NX80 about 4 days before this device was released and wanted to return it and trade it for the UX50 due to the integrated wireless options and unique clamshell design. After visiting a few CompUSA stores I finally found one in stock and forked over a whopping US$699 plus tax for this device (traded the NX80 and some cash). My wife thought I was nuts to spend that much on a PDA, but I just couldn't resist the wonderful design and workmanship in the device. I was in LOVE with it and it quickly became my primary device. I even later took it to a Microsoft-sponsored conference and used the UX50 as my main note taking and internet connected device. I posted a full review on Geek.com back in October 2003 here,

I actually ended up buying and selling another UX50 and a UX40 throughout the next couple of years as I just couldn't get this device out of my head.
Last week, a package arrived in the mail after I made a purchase via an online mobile forum and once again the amazing CLIE UX50 made its way back into my hands. I vow that this UX50 will never leave me again and if I ever tire of this lovely device, it will remain in my honored mobile device archives (along with a Palm IIIe, Newton 2100, Zaurus 5500, and Palm m505 to name a few retirees).
