[From Roger Moore] I just got back from the Palm Foleo Sneak Preview at the Grove in Los Angeles. Wow. If you blog or want to write, they built this machine for you. Docs to Go looks great on it. No more squinting at the small screen. The battery life stands at four or five hours. Avvenu already partnered with Palm to make their file sharing service available on the Foleo. I don't want to call it a Foleo application yet(let the iPhone weasles call websites apps*Snicker*Snicker*). But the rep made it sound like that might be possible in the future. The Foleo definitely takes advantage of Web2.0.
And it was so light, just 2.5 lbs. It felt good sturdy. There's no spinning disks inside, I could wave it around. And just the turn on/turn off/switch apps time is amazing. This is really going to be the deal sealer. This product needs to be touched to truly convey the advantages.
They said a Pocket Tunes music player is in the works, to drowned out the noisy table next to you while you write.
When your phone syncs up with Foleo, a little computer icon comes up where the blue tooth icon is. That was in the last firmware update from Palm. Is that scoop, or did someone already report that?
And without further rambling: The Swag. Everybody who showed up for this event got a bag of goodies.
Inside:Foleo napkins (that I got from the open bar.)
Foleo gum.
Palm Coffee mug.
Starbucks $15 Gift card.
An SD card with 14 Rolling Stones songs.
My name badge complete with fictional company.
A Foleo sized cut out product advertisement.
The Palm bag.
Not only that, Palm had great wine ($20-30 a bottle), beer, cheese, cute waitresses serving up very delicious appetizers and a very knowledgeable staff and reps on hand to answer questions. My hat is off.
