[From Steven Rosenberg] I do a lot of writing -- both print and for blogs, and carrying around a 9-pound Powerbook just wasn't working for me. I dug out my wife's Palm Tungsten E, loaded the software and quickly got acclimated to Graffiti 2. Now can I write anywhere at just about any time -- using Palm's Memos program and Documents to Go -- and sync it to my PC at work or my Mac at home, or send it direct with VersaMail from the PC via the sync cable. The best part: It's so small, I don't need the keyboard (although I'm getting one anyway) and it is instantly available -- no waiting to boot or shut down. Great for writing in short bursts, which make my about 80 percent of my work.
I've never been one to make lists, but the Tasks has been a great way to get organized. What used to be rarely written down on pieces of paper (and subsequently lost) is now in the Palm and synced in two places.
I also got the contacts out of an old PC's Outlook program into the Palm and now into the Mac. It saved retyping 300+ addresses and phone numbers -- the old PC's Outlook wouldn't make vCards, and Mac OS X's Address Book won't take .CSV files. The Palm made it easy.
Nothing revolutionary here -- but the Palm is a great tool for writers and bloggers. It's certainly easy on the arms.
