[From Luis Amaral, (Lisbon, Portugal)] Having been a Palm user since 1998, I am currently using a Treo 600, which I have owned for a year and a half now. I was very hesitant to switch from a Palm+Phone setup to an integrated setup (Treo), but I finally did it: I gave up my Tungsten C, which I still keep as it was the best Palm I ever had and got the much less powerful but integrated and small Treo 600. What a joy it has been! I know the Treo 600 is not very powerful, it has an outdated screen, it doens't feature bluetooth for wirelessly speaking while driving and so on... but in what it does it is does it very very good. And it never crashes or lags... it's very stable.
Through time I have tried several different 3rd party applications, such as planners, database tools etc, but in the end, what I really really use, are the main applications: datebook, contacts, memos and calculator. That's it. That's where my whole life is. Datebook full of events, alarms and important dates, and also my todo's for the day. Floating events can be very useful too! And the Memo application is just a stack of information about everything in my life. And the function that I admire the most in the Palm, that Nokia still doesn't include in all of their smartphones.... ? the global FIND.... oh yes, quite simply it enables you to find anything on your palm within seconds....
Besides that, there are three other important things that I do with my palm: keep a 1GB SD Card with wikipedia on it, which is always helpfull if you're reading something or having a conversation with someone and a question or unknown concept comes up... also, for my favorite hobby, Geocaching, I keep a database with all the Caches available in Portugal, so that I can hunt any cache at any time, provided I have my Garmin GPS with me... and finally an encripted application (TopSecret) where I store all my important passwords and personal data... it has saved my day quite a few times already... and it is protected with several different passwords too.
To sum up, my treo is the other half of my brain, it's where I keep my important data. Very often while I am doing something else, in the movies, watching TV, surfing the net, even driving or falling asleep, I will remember something I have to do the next day and immediately pull my Treo out and store it in the next day's calendar with and appropriate reminder :-) If it is on my Palm, it's part of my life.
Cheers for PalmAddict for keeping up the quality info for such a long time! And cheers for the Mac community out there... for work I am forced to use PCs, but on my personal choice I use and iBook G4 with Tiger on it....
