Stephen Trew's posting made me wonder about whether there was a method for donating old PDAs to charity, to put them to good use somewhere. Note, they only want fully functioning PDAs that are 3 or fewer years old. I suspect they could be convinced that the later OS4 Palms and top-of-the-line Handsprings are still useful, however. A quick Google search took me to Skyscape and SATELLIFE, which are collecting PDAs to put into the hands of Medical workers combatting AIDS in Africa. There's also a link here from the EPOCRATES web site. They'll even sweeten the deal by giving you some free reference work for your current PDA.
It's clear that this is not one of those "Donate Stuff so you can take an inflated Deduction on your Taxes and we Can pretend to be a Charity." The PDAs are put into use, not sold, and the sponsors are real corporations working in medical technology and informatics. If selling your PDA on Ebay is not going to do much for your bottom line, consider donating it instead.
Are there other worthy projects to which PAddict Readers might donate their older, gently used PDAs? Respond in the Forum.
