Ok, I was bit irked by this possible news of the lifedrive being discontinued, but am happy to hear that it won't be discontinued. Thanks to Peter Perez for his info on that.
In regards to the lifedrive, it is a exceptional device even with its quirks. I cannot think of a reason why someone should not get it. Even the price has come down with some 3rd party vendors, making buying one more reasonable. I see the lifedrive as a transitional device that will change the way PDAs are used. More information will be stored on these devices and larger files will be transported via lifedrive like devices. While on the plane last week, I saw a few people lugging their laptops with them and working on their laptops with little room to spare. I noticed some working on documents, watching dvds, and playing games. I thought to myself, how nice it is to be able to do all that but in a much smaller package. That is the future- a smaller package, if palm can convince the everyday/business consumer that the lifedrive is a laptop replacement device, I see the sales of PDAs on the rise.
I love my lifedrive and think it is a great device. If palm releases an new device simliar to the lifedrive, but better, I say great. The lifedrive concept is where PDAs must be if they are going to keep Palm in the black.
