From Bernie (Cyberjaya, Selangor) "Hi sammy, I see the site is still being hammered by loads of update daily, which of course, good news for me as it provides a nice way to release steam from working. With all the buzz from T-X and TE2, I want remind all the Palm'ers out the regarding the T5.
In my previous email, my T5 was extremely buggy, crashing like nobody's business in most programs. I spent the last week testing out a fresh install of the T5. I spend a day wiping out the memory on the T5 AND my desktop applications. I remembered that I did not do this when I got my T5, I just 'upgraded' the Zire 71 desktop, which was a pretty bad idea, judging from experience. I did delete the old user, but I guess some conduits (Versamail most probably) and perhaps Hotsync Manager itself didn't like the upgrade much.
So after a fresh install of Palm Desktop, which involved uninstallation, manually cleaning the registry and deleting the actual program folder, I installed the Palm Desktop that came with my T5. Of course the T5 itself got a zero-out-reset so it's like I got a new PDA again.
I then proceeded to reinstall applications bit-by-bit. This went on for about 2 days. Until the T5 got buggy again. So I backtracked and guess what? TextPlus was causing the crashes all the while. Removed that, even though it was a very useful program for me, and now my T5 is rock-solid. As crash-proof as my previous Zire 71. NVFS is not that buggy after all?
It's been a week since I've done this, and the T5 probably crashed, once or twice due, mostly due to Agendus and some games. But it's RARE. I'm so happy now. I've started loading up games again, playing video using TCMP (which is waaaaay cool, get it now by googling, please!) and most importantly, I've begun depending on the T5 again. Scheduling, tasks, reminders, alarms, budgets, memos! I basically got back my digital brain.
So I guess, it was all due to human error (my fault basically) that the T5 was screwing up. I assumed TextPlus was working fine (latest version specifically mentiones support for the T5!) but I was wrong. ONE program caused the T5 to be extremely unstable. I've eliminated Hotsync errors, crashes during MSDict, Bejewelled 2 and the PIMs, just by removing this one program. It always stays resident in memory, so I guess it was messing up a whole lot of other programs (ironically, TextPlus itself runs without any problem!).
So safe to say I'm 99.99 % happy again with my T5. The 0.01 % is because WiFi is not built-in ;-)"
