911 Emergencies will soon accept texts + photos!

This is a GREAT idea! I've always thought what would happen if you can't talk to someone on the phone about your emergency. FCC Chairman Julian Genachowski began working on this last year… the idea is that sometimes you cannot always talk on the phone because you are panicked and it makes it difficult for the operator to understand your voice, and so this conquers it, it's also good for the emergency services as they are able to prepare specific equipment for situations. A great idea.

Use Facebook mobile? Watch out!

Just a heads up PA readers but Facebook (might, don't know how true it is) be publishing your mobile number to your friends unknowingly. It seems that the Facebook mobile app sometimes puts your mobile number into your profile and makes it visible to all of your friends. Check if yours is showing by going to Facebook, going on your profile, clicking info and then checking your contact info. If you want it there, then fair enough, but I know a lot of people don't. As I say, it seems that a lot of sources are claiming the app does it but I'm not convinced. Just a heads up though. :)

Live in a Rural Area? Don't bother with a smart phone.

It's been found that older 2G mobiles are much better for making phone calls. This is because 2G phones are generally larger than smartphones meaning they have more space for aerials resulting in a better signal. Check it out on the Daily Mail [Read More]

First shots of new Android OS appear!

The first screenshots of the future Android OS 'Ice Cream Sandwich' emerged on Thursday. It seems that the OS will have a changed notification bar, app drawer and a new launcher, which looks kind of like the Android Gingerbread launcher. The OS seems to have been revamped with colour too, instead of the usual Android green it seems that it has a certain blue colour with it, much like the Cyanogen Mod ROMs available. It's also rumoured that the camera has a panoramic mode, as well as the idea that Ice Cream Sandwich will be able to run on the older Android devices. For more info and the pictures check out the Android Police.

Apple playing the usual card...

So after I read this article that Sammy posted earlier, I went delving to find out about the Android "Appstore" I was immediately face with this article here on the DailyMail. It seems that Apple are out to get everyone with their patents, copyrights and stuff. The general idea of the article is that Apple is trying to get an injunction (which has been since denied) against Amazon for using the word App Store improperly, Amazon have argued and said that the term App Store is generalised and can therefore not be protected under legal grounds. The judge didn't agree and has decided that a case will be opened in October 2012. How many more law suits will Apple try to open this year? Only time will tell...
