I think Apple recognizes the fortuity of this particular WWDC with respect to various events and non-events in the industry, and wants to make the most of it. PC sales are dropping because of the iPad and the Mac, would-be tablet competitors have faltered, Android developers aren't making the kind of money some expected, Microsoft, Nokia, and RIM have made some really stupid strategic moves, etc. This is a nice clean, out in the open, all by itself, event to throw the spotlight on some significant new Apple products which may very well leapfrog everything else out there

Is this new iOS designed for music? I hope this will be good cause I really want this one even though I don't know much about it yet. I just want it for its name. "iCloud", cool.

Apple will be able to scan customers' digital music libraries in iTunes. If the sound quality of a particular song on a user's hard drive isn't good enough, Apple will be able to replace it with a higher-quality version..this is one of the best service that apple offers to all the consumers.thanks for sharing this.

I'd be in for 50 bucks a year if I could just get my damn machines (Laptop, wifes laptop, and my HTPC) to mirror changes in my iTunes without me drop boxing everything to 3 machines. It's ridiculous¬.

iTunes already lets users mirror their high quality music files on any iPod by re-encodin¬g them at 128 kbs. Internet radio is typically 128 kbs at best and I guess that is also the quality that iCloud will offer. With iPod capacities doubling roughly every generation and a half, most people will be able to mirror entire 128 kbs libraries on their devices, negating the need for iCloud.

However, the company has openly admitted that it will be showing iOS 5, as well as iCloud, the company's "upcoming cloud services offering." The company normally prefers to surprise the public and the media with new products....

Yea thats about as far from a breakthrough as it gets. The breakthrough they need, like Justin said, is to allow 3rd party software on their products, and stop trying to drive established venues out of the market. Sooner or later they and Microsoft (who has already seen the writing on the wall) will have to realize Open Source is the future of software anyhow

Apple is just being more accurate. At the last several WWDCs, Jobs kicked off the keynote, but quickly had Forstall, Schiller, Feder(whatever), and others talk about and demo the various forthcoming products.
As for cloud, Apple looks to push another simple general-purpose word into mainstream consciousness, and co-opt it along the way. Pod, Tunes, Phone, App, Pad, and now Cloud.

Apple tends forgo announcing release dates of big products to the public and bring it out on surprise, but they have some legitimate excuses this time. Plead for apple to hand over any next-gen devices so they are still a big change that it might still come depending on how for it is on! Thanks for sharing this.
