Ok, so maybe that title is a bad reprise of the United Colors of Benton, but I've been kind of surprised at how I've steadily moved into having a mobile that's of a different color than the norm. When I was looking at the Nokia E7, I noticed how difrerent the colors that its available in said something different about its purpose. The silver and black models showing more of an executive touch, while the other colors are more "player's coach" in feel. It made me think a bit how a colorful mobile speaks about our personalities a bit.
I took a look back to what I can think of as my first colorful mobile, the Treo 680 Copper, and I just remember how just having a mobile that wasn't black, silver, gunmetal, or a mix of those three was something to be seen. I got a lot of attention from that Treo 680.
I think my next mobile that had a different color was my Nokia N95. I had a black N75 before that, and definitely enjoyed having a device that caused all kinds of conflicts between people who thought they saw red, magenta, or a dark pink. I've still got the N95, however, I had to replace the battery cover and the only suitable color was a black one, so now I've got this two-tone effect going on for this device.
After the N95 was my N97. The N97, as with many mobiles a few years ago that were't "Apple white" came in black. I didn't mind it so much I guess after having a red mobile, but I wanted something different. I ended up going to SkinIt and made a personalized skin for my N97. Now my N97 is green, dark green, and has touches of orange in it - mimicing the pattern of my personal logo. Its really interesting, and I think that colors of our devices add a bit of something that just makes it speak a bit more to our personality.
