So I have been trying push notifications on my iPhone 3G and I have to say that I like. I remember on my Tungsten C and my Treo 650 I was able to get push notifications using Verichat when I was on instant messenger and it was awesome. Verichat was a great instant messaging program on Palm OS and although other clients have been great nothing could ever top V/C. So when it came to test push notifications using instant messenger I chose BeejiveIM, loaded my account details in and switched on instant messaging. I have to say that that push notification works well. I can tweak how I want my notifications to arrive whether it be badge or sound. It all works well, and as I mentioned I have not had a good experience with notifications since my Palm OS days. I have yet to play with instant messaging on the Palm Pre but I will do and report back on my experiences. I'll do a separate post with how to get in contact with me through the likes of instant messaging and social networking etc but in the meantime if you have not tried instant messaging from your mobile device and in my case the iphone then give it a try, you may just like it and if you think your privacy is being invaded then you can always turn it off.
