[From Bill Quinlan] I have been using the Acer Aspire One with my Palm TX for some time
now, and it is a great paring. The Acer comes with 1 GB of ram and a
160 GB hard drive. It is running Windows XP Home SP3. It comes with 3
USB v2 ports. After loading Firefox, I downloaded Palm Desktop 4.2 and
hotsynced my Palm TX. I added a bluetooth dongle for $11.95 and am now
hotsyncing wirelessly! I use Card Reader to access my 16GB SD card in
my Palm TX or I can access the card directly by putting it in one of
the 2 SD card slots on the Acer. Much to my surprise, this version of the Palm Desktop allows for effortless switching between Outlook and Palm Desktop for PIM usage. I discovered this by accident when I clicked the Start menu and tabbed to Programs->Palmone. One of the choices was PIM conduit sync which then allowed me to choose Outlook or PalmDesktop. This allows you to switch between them easily!
The Acer hard drive is big enough to hold many mp4 and avi movies that I used to keep on my Palm TX, and the 8.9" screen is great for viewing them. I also keep my music and pictures on the Acer and can drop them into the Palm TX very easily.
I added the Palm TX Simulator to the Acer and now can run most of my valuable Palm applications on the big screen.
Together the Acer and Palm TX make an unbeatable combination!
