[From Matthew B. Parks] Dear Sammy,
I am one of the most excited people on earth about the Pre’. I think that it is innovative, something that Palm has not delivered on in a while. I read the comments from other in regards to the “me too” factor and the worry about developing jumping on board. Well, yes on would be an idiot not to exam the landscape, see what is being offered, and offering some that can compete. The important thing, I think that Palm has does this, is to produce something that is not a direct copy of the original, speaking of the iPhone. Palms even graciously admitted to its influences yesterday at the presser. I am amazed that the same people that criticized Palm for being the stale dinosaur of the PDA/Smartphone space are not the one that are concerned that the old software will not work on the new platform. Wow. The old stuff may not work, but you bet you sweet rear-end that those developers are going to port apps for the new device. I bought my wife an
iPhone over the Holidays. My wife, her sister and her brother, were all former palm users, and all now iPhone users. They raved about the iPhone and its capabilities. But after talking about it for a half hour, they still can to one striking verdict on the iPhone. As good as it is, it is not Palm. I wait with great anticipation for the release of the phone to replace this Windows Mobile thing that carry around on my hip. And will I take the Pre’ into my loving arms, it will be as though my old Palm (s) never left. Written in the loving memoriam to my Palm Pilot 100, Handspring Visor, Handspring Prism, Palm Life Drive, and Palm TX.
