Mastering Your Centro's Battery Door
Happy New Year Sammy and all the PA readers. I hope it's a great year for everyone!
One night I had to reset my Centro and I could not get the battery door back on. I was in a bit of a panic and there I was, in the dark, cursing, until I used my doorless Centro to look at others’ solutions on various Palm websites. It turns out there is a “trick” to removing and replacing the battery door, and once you learn the trick, it’s really quite simple.
First, lay your Centro face down. Turn it so the camera end (top) is toward you, and the end where the headphones and power cord connect is facing away from you.
Grasp the Centro so that both of your thumbs rest flat on the door just above the camera section. On my Verizon Wireless Centro, the Verizon logo lays right where my thumbs need to go.
Now, gently push in and toward the end where the headphones and power cord connect with your thumbs. The door should slide right off.
If your thumbs are slippery or you’re having trouble grasping it, use a piece of rubber shelf liner, a piece of rubber glove, or something else “grippy” under your thumbs. In a pinch, I’ve used my Centro’s own silicone skin or even a Post-It(R) note.
To replace the door, turn the Centro around so that the end where the headphones and power cord connect are facing you, and the camera end is facing away from you. Line the door up and place your thumbs in the exact same spot. Gently push in and toward the camera end at the same time and the door should snap right into place.
Don’t let taking off the back battery door ruin your Centro experience. It’s not hard at all if you know the trick. They should really put these directions in the “getting started” guide that comes with Centros!
