PDF files on your PDA

[From Frederick Claus] Sammy, What a great site this is. I've found many cool programs to add to my Palm Centro from reading this blog. I've also found some cool sites to visit from seeing the ads on your website homepage. If anyone has not see the ads, I suggest you check them out. There are some great programs for sale there. I personally already use the "AutoFile Pro" program you sell for work. It's awesome.

Anyway, my post today is about PDF files. For years I've used the Adobe Reader for PalmOS program that Adobe offers for free. For the most part it worked ok for me. That's why when my church told me that my Sunday School lesson plans were now going to be sent to me via PDF file instead of a hardcopy book, I was happy as a clam. Trouble is the book didn't show up as good on my Palm as it does on my laptop. Adobe Reader caused the pages to fill 1/3 of the screen, and I would have to tap on the screen a few times to get the page to enlarge. Then I would have to tap again to shrink the page down to go to the next page. This is much more time consuming and not work the hassle. Then I was shopping around for some Black Friday sales on Pocketgear.com and came across this free program called PalmPDF. I've been told about this program many times but never actually tried it. When I installed it, I noticed that PDF files are much easier to upload to the Palm, They show up normal size just like Adobe Reader on your handheld. No need to convert a file for viewing on a PDA. It also has a feature called PalmDoc where you can copy the text from a PDF file and make it viewable in Ereader or iSilo if you want only the text, and no graphics. This is a program that is both FREE and well worth looking into. I found it here.
