[From Andrew Goldstein] I'm a Windows Mobile Guy. No doubt about it. In 2002, I bought my first WM device--then called Pocket PC--which was a Dell Axim X5 Advanced. Coming from a line of Palm Pilot's and Handspring devices, it was a bit of an adjustment.
Since then, I've probably had 6 Windows PDAs or Smartphones. But, during this time I bought my wife a Palm Treo 800p. She loved it. She also used it faithfully until I sold it and gave her my old Mogul a few months ago.
What seemed like a good idea, quickly became a bad one. She hated the Mogul. The big, slideout keyboard and unfamiliar OS was too much for her to handle.
It was certainly easier for me to manage, though, as I only had to keep up with the WM software developments. Tracking those, and the Palm OS program updates was difficult. But, you know what? I miss the Palm OS programs we bought and she was using. Agendus, 2Day, Dial by Photo, were all good programs.
So now I just sold the Mogul on Craigslist and am choosing between an 800w for her, or a Centro for her.
While the 800w would be easier for me to manage, I'm sort of leaning to the Palm Centro and the good old reliable Palm OS and her old apps.
The only thing holding me back is the lack of built-in GPS. That was a key feature of the Mogul and the 800w.
Here's a solution: I'll try and get both! The 800w for her daily needs, and the Centro for my backup device in case I screw up my own 800w for work!
