An Elegant iPhone Deserves an Elegant Battery
One of my reasons for switching to the iPhone is its sleek, hand-friendly form factor. One of my complaints about the iPhone has been its battery size, because a good day spent surfing on the go (without a place to recharge) can completely drain my iPhone. Backup batteries thus far have added to the length of the iPhone or have surrounded its sleek curves with boxiness. However, the latest incarnation of the Slider Case by InCase, which is to come out on November 28th, fixes the kludgy feel of the external backup battery by building the battery into the case. The InCase Power Slider appears to place the battery at the back of the Slider case, but in a way that mimics the curvy contours of the iPhone itself. Having lived through the aesthetically miserable Treo 680 Expanded Battery -- which required a substitute battery door that added a boxy bustle to the 680's curves -- this design is refreshing. The downside: the InCase Power Slider appears to be selling for $100 when it goes on sale, but it might well be worth it if it doesn't languish in the junk drawer like so many badly-designed battery solutions might.
