Proporta Leather Case for Asus EeePC 900 series Review

Package and Exterior
Has expected, a product of this size couldn’t be sent in a cardboard package due its size, weight and cost. Proporta decided to wrap the EeePC Case in a simple transparent plastic package very easy to open and allowing the client to see the product before opening the package itself.

In my opinion, this package is a smart choice,
but is very bendy and is very susceptible to transport damage.
The Leather Case
The Proporta Asus EeePC Leather Case seems like the traditional Proporta case for PDA’s – but bigger. It has the same elegance and design and it’s made with fine leather, very smooth in touch. It does not have however the thin aluminum layer like the Alu-leather case series. I think that’s comprehensive because the EeePC screen is already protected by the netbook’s cover and the aluminum extra layer would became the case very thick.

Exteriorly, the leather is very smooth and thick, protecting the Asus EeePC against scratches. The top cover is very elegant and have a metal Proporta logo in the low-right corner. The back cover have a magnetic handle and a ventilation system.

The netbook is kept in a large pocket on the case interior. That kind of pouch is made with thinner and harder leather with several apertures to the EeePC’s touchpad, LED’s, card-reader slot and audio connectors. That’s a great advantage; it means that the user can actually work without removing the laptop from the case itself. However, my sample case have a small problem: the earphones connector is always covered due some manufacturing error.

The top cover have a large pocket to keep envelopes and A5 papers, a credit card slot and two SD cards slots.

Conclusions
This is a very good quality case. It allows to completely substituting the Asus default pouch and gives a very good balance between protection and elegance.

However, the Proporta PDA case owners may be a
little bit angry; It’s easy to see that the EeePC case needs more leather and
manufacturing time (and cost) than a normal and small PDA case. By some unknown
reason, the PDA case it’s 30% more expensive than this particular case for
netbooks. See this particular example: the HTC Diamond leather case costs 10€
more.
