Well, I'm doing my mobile computing in a whole new way these days, a
much more limited way than before. My Palm TX (my 2nd... or is it
third now..?) has made it's way to the tech graveyard. Let's take a
moment shall we? ... ... ... Actually, I should say, it's most likely
dead. I'll be waiting a week or so to be sure that the battery is
drained and then I'll see if I can resuscitate the old girl. For now
though... what can I do?
And just a quick note before I go on, I have finally had the time tonight to upload my posts. You'll notice quite a few. I had been meaning to upload these last week but I was thwarted by my workplace's internet blocking software. Palmaddict, being a forum/blog/social network causes the system to say "NO! No access! Go away!" Thus, all my posts are uploaded tonight, in one big swoop.
First, I've been using gmail for awhile now so I can now get my email at work and anywhere else where they allow an internet connection so I'm good there. This doesn't allow me to get my email ANYWHERE nor carry it with me, but what can you do? Second, I did just find a used iPod nano, the fat iPod nano as they became known as, and upon that I placed my usual list of podcasts and audiobooks, as well as my calender and contacts. I suppose I could even place some ebooks on it using the Notes function... I'll have to see about that.
And finally, something I had never tried before, I got some games for the nano. Now, on my TX I had tons of games, and I mean tons. Page after page in ZLaincher of games of all types. On the Nano, I'm much more limited as I can only buy what they have in the iTunes store, which left me with Monopoly, Zuma, Brain Trainer, Yahtzee, Solitaire, iQuiz, Vortex, Sims Pool, and Sudoku. I tried to get a good mix of card, strategy, arcade, brain type games in there. Unfortunately, Hearts and Spades do not exist and those are my two most played games on the old Palm. I'm going through withdrawls!
Anyway, my point with this post is merely that I never actually thought of the iPod before as a mobile computing alternative. And to be sure, I'm not writing emails or surfing the net, but I am still listening to podcasts, and playing games on the go, which is about half of what I did with the Palm, so I'm keeping my head above water, mobile-wise!
