My review of Insaniquarium Deluxe
Insaniquarium Deluxe is a new game from Astraware that I thought I would have a go at playing and post my opinions. I anticipated playing this game for half an hour which turned into a whole morning.
After downloading Insaniquarium Deluxe to your device click on the Icon and the game will start to load. Once on the main screen you will be asked to enter your name after doing this you will see the main menu for the game which will have a few options such as Adventure, Challenge, Time Trial and help. Just to let you know that you cant go on to Challenge mode or Time Trial until you have completed the Adventure level.
If you have never played the game before I recommend that you click on the help button which gives you a very in-depth description on how to play the game. Once you have read this you will not have a problem understanding the game as the tutorial is excellent.
After you have finished reading the tutorial, enter into the Adventure level and you will then see an aquarium with two tiny orange coloured fish swimming about. At the top of the screen you will see a panel, the majority of this will be empty until you move up the game and in the top right hand side of the screen you will see your points. You start off with 200 points and the aim of the game is to build an aquarium and keep your fish alive this may sound easy but you have to overcome different obstacles throughout the course of the gameplay.
To feed your fish you have to tap on the screen, observe the food drop down, but you are only able to drop one piece of food at a time. You will know when the fish are hungry as they change colour to let you know and if you leave your fish for too long, then they will start heading for the food. However if you leave them far to long they starve and disappear from the screen, so keep a close eye on them, make sure you don’t keep dropping food as I only realised after playing the game a number of times. You also use money everytime you feed the fish so be careful how much you feed them.
As your fish start to grow you will notice coins appear which you must collect the coins before they hit the sand and a snail takes them and obviously you don’t get the money. As you move through the game you will see the oyster shell in the background, open, collect the pearl within the shell to receive more money to help you buy things. Throughout the game you can buy different things such as more small fish, better food so that you don’t have to feed them as often, and you can also buy bigger fish and instead of dropping money these larger fish drop gems which provide you a lot more money, which in theory, is needed to maintain these fish as they don’t eat normal fish food instead they eat the smaller fish.
You will notice when these larger fish also need feeding as they turn to stone when they need food. To make the game even more interesting, you will be attacked by an alien, which, when it comes into contact with your fish it makes them disappear, so be careful when pushing the alien away, tap the aliens head to push it down and then tap the tail to push it up. Keep taping on the alien to make it disappear, when you collect more money you can buy bigger weapons to kill the alien a lot easier which can be extremely helpful as your aquarium begins to grow with plenty of fish. Make sure you don’t let the alien go too near your fish or let the fish starve or it will be game over for you and you will have to start the game from the beginning.
There is plenty more surprises throughout the Adventure level but I will let you find them for yourself as I don’t want to ruin all the fun of the game. What I find very appealing about Insaniquarium Deluxe is that you have to complete the Adventure level to enter the other levels. The reason why I find this an appealing part of the game is because it sets a challenge for you which I thoroughly enjoy and makes me want to complete the level even more to see what is unlocked in the next level.
Finally, the colour and graphics of this game are excellent. Gameplay is awesome and full of little surprises. I really enjoyed playing the game and would recommend it to any person who enjoys challenges. Be careful you may only intend to play the game for short time but you end up playing it for hours - two words, truly addictive and there is nothing fishy about that.
