What Made Me Go Mobile

[From LaRosa Johnson Trailblazin' Ministries] I want to take a brief moment to share how I became such a mobile device enthusiast. I had always been one who used desktops and laptops, so I never felt the need for mobile software; that was, until a friend of mine told me how he was using mobile devices to do something that I was very passionate about. This friend of mine was using his Palm Treo to read and study the Bible and began sharing with me the wealth of information that I could have at my fingertips anywhere I went, without having to lug around a physical Bible. After a few months of mulling over whether I wanted to buy yet another electronic device, I opted to purchase a Palm Z22 to give it a try, and I was immediately hooked when I learned how to use Palm Bible+. I quickly began to use the device for my daily Bible reading, as well as reading devotions and commentaries; it even got to the point where I was proficient at using the device to take notes at church using only the handwriting feature of the Palm, switching back & forth between memo & Bible+. From there, I quickly acclimated myself to using all of the other features the device offered to me (calendar, tasks, etc.) and it became an indespensible part of my life.

It truly is amazing how mobile devices can revolutionize ones view of doing something as simple as reading the Bible and how it can lead to a total lifestyle change. I have since upgraded to a T-Mobile Dash and have adjusted nicely from a Palm to a Windows Mobile device. I don't know how I lived without a mobile device for so long, but I'm glad that my friend convinced me to buy one, as I'm now hoping to push the limits with what I can do with my mobile device, especially in how I'm able to study the Bible.
