Stylus... stylus... where art thou?
There is this particular article that I do not remember where I read it. It could be on Edgadget, on Gizmodo, on BoyGeniusReport, or even on PalmAddicts itself. Or perhaps on some other website that I do not remember. Since I cannot find the link to the article, I will have to rely on what I remember (or at least on what I think I remember correctly). Anyway... in that article, I read about a software (or was it a hardware?) installed on Palm or Pocket PC that will give out an "I am away" sort of message to the online status of Internet Instant Messaging software on desktop/laptop whenever the person walks away from the desktop/laptop (assuming of course that the person has the Palm or Pocket PC with him/her). Something like that. It probably rings a bell to PalmAddicts readers here. The article was not too old, and was posted sometime this year (I am sure of that).
Anyway, I was wondering if similar concept can be applied to stylus. You see, sometimes people lose or misplace their styluses (hence that is why styluses are sold as accessories, so that whoever needs stylus replacement can get a new one). Would it be nice if there is a software (or hardware) that will sound an alarm from the Palm or Pocket PC whenever its stylus is, say for example, more than three meters away from the device? In the case the alarm plays, we can know right away that the stylus is not on its place, and we can look for the stylus in the immediate area, minimizing the search area. Hopefully in that way people will never lose or misplace their styluses again. Just a thought.
