Portable Radio The Hard Way

[From Doug Wilcox, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada] I have my favorite public radio broadcasts but often cannot be near a radio to listen to my favorite ones. However, thanks to my “old” minidisc player/recorder I can make unattended digital radio recordings and play them back when it is convenient for me. I do this by connecting a radio it to a digital timer which turns the radio on/off at the appropriate radio broadcast times. Additionally, I hook up the audio input of the minidisc to the audio output of the radio and set the minidisc recorder to synchro-record (the sync-record feature means the minidisc recorder will go into standby mode when the radio is off and there is no audio). I can then go about my daily routine and catch my favorite radio broadcasts at my convenience. I have also found that the minidisc audio quality and ability to jump to various tracks is noticeably better than from cassette tapes. As you can tell in this age of iPods I’m still a Sony minidisc fan. You are still the best site for getting Palm related information – keep up the great work Sammy.
