NOAA

[From Jon S. Rochester, NY] No... not the guy with the big boat, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Now that winter is finally gone in Western New York, it's Spring and Summer thunderstorm time. With my kids playing soccer again, it's time to start visiting my favorite weather radar sites. http://cell.weather.gov or http://mobile.weather.gov. The ability to look at hi-res animated radar images on my Treo when the skies turn dark, can be a literal life-saver. No one wants to be standing in an open field when a thunderstorm rolls in. Last year when some nasty weather rolled through and games were suspended, I was able to show the officials the radar on my phone, and they were able to safely let the kids back on the fields once the storms had passed. You can pay for for the same radar images at other sites, but it's nice to be able to get it from the source, and for free.
