Microsoft is trying their hardest to catch up with Google's internet services, the latest offering from the software giant is a live traffic coverage called "Clearflow". It's a 5 years project from company's artificial intelligence team at Microsoft Research laboratories, it sounds very much like a movie story line.
This Coverflow is part of Microsoft Live site, and will cover over 72 cities in the US. The technology is here anyway, but according to Switched; the cursory looks at traffic route information for New York City and Chicago didn't seem to show side street information or alternative routes. Sources are from NY Times here via Switched here.
