TREO 800 that looks like an iPhone?

All those APPLE people recruited to PALM are supposedly working on a PALM TREO that looks like an APPLE iphone.  Word has it it will be using an operating system called "Nova OS" as reported at "Treonauts" and should be available by late 2008.  This is a completely new smartphone hardware platform that can run Windows Mobile and the new upcoming Nova OS.  The device is rumored to be called the "TREO 800" which will be competition to Apple's iphone with a full QWERTY rubber keyboard like the one on the CENTRO at present, high speed processor,  built-in WiFi and GPS built in. 
So, you WINDOWS and MAC fans can both be happy with the new rumored TREO 800 ...................... but you will have to wait several months to see this new technology!

Before you call to complain...

Another good use for your mobile device that will save your blushes.

I use VM for my broadband connection and it's normally pretty good but, as we all know, broadband connections (not just VM's) go down from time to time.  We also all know that sinking feeling when you've finally got through to customer services only to realise that the problem is at your end, not theirs!

So I've put a webclip on my iPhone that points to VM's service status page.  Of course, you could do the same for your own provider.  The trick is to just click it to check whether there really is a problem in your area before you call - time and embarrassment saved!  "Yes, of course it's plugged in... oh!"

Palm Quick Tip

For years I carried a multitude of ebooks on my Palm device without them ever being finely organized. Just think if you walked into a library and it took you hours to find a book because there was no orderly system to use?

Therefore the Palm Quick tip for today is effective ebook filing on your Palm device. Today I will talk about the free Ereader Pro. Once this software is loaded on your palm device all you have to do is start downloaded ebooks or even free e-material from memoware and store them on your SD card.

Open Ereader Pro and it will find all the e-material on your device. OK, When you open Ereader Pro two icons are very important for what we want to accomplish here. The far leftmost icon is the menu icon and the circle with the "i " is the information icon.

First let's tap the menu icon. It opens up a number of different options you can use to alter the way Ereader Pro works, for now let's tap the Open area. Now you can see all of the e-materials on your device.

Look to the upper right-hand corner tap the drop down arrow, hit edit categories. Add whatever categories you may want. You can always alter them at some other time. Click ok after each and when you are done.

Now you should be back to your entire library. Click on one of your materials, once it opens click on the little information icon. Quess what, there is the wonderful Palm OS category drop down. Just find the category you want to store your material in click it and click ok. Continue this process until all of our materials are in categories.

It is a bit of work on the front end but next time you open Ereader Pro, click on the menu icon and open to your library you can go straight to the categories and find the item you want to read very quickly.

It seems to help getting through materials better in this fashion and after this manner also.

A busy weekend for my xv6800

This past weekend, my xv6800 was busy, as we went on youth trip to Cheyenne.  I was using the xv6800 to manage phone calls and text messages, keeping in touch as we traveled.  Throughout the weekend I was updating blogs via sms and email, including uploading videos and pictures taken using the excellent camera.

During down time, I listened to music with Audio Manager (from HTC) and watched old episodes of the IT crowd via TCPMP.  As we headed home, I was constantly checking weather with the HTC Home plugin (pictured to the left), and wunderground.com, to make sure the drive home would be safe.

The battery life of the xv6800, despite almost constant usage, and a couple of hours of wifi enabled browsing/emailing, has been great.  I average 2 days of full use before having to charge.  The xv6800 also has a built-in hardware switch to turn the wifi off and on, so you don't have to worry about going through several menus to turn the wifi off (a big plus).

I'm loving Windows Mobile 6, and it has been extremely stable for me.

Treo ringtones

The Treo has become so popular in congress and conventions, that is an usual problem when one rings... the most has the clasic Treo ringotne, so it's funny when one rings and all check their phones... Trying to avoid that problem, I choose a different ringtone.. but maybe all in the congress because one Treo rings whit the same tone and all check their phones :)))   The best solutions is buy a program to make our own ringotne or use MiniTones, great program that make a ringtone from your mp3. 

AOL MOBILE SEARCH with GOOGLE now Available!

AOL has launched an iPhone-optimized version of its Mobile Search service [iphone-optimized version of its MOBILE SEARCH service] . Mobile Search has a traditional Web search engine, but also has features specially tailored to search the content of various AOL properties, including Moviefone, MapQuest, AOL CityGuide and others. So, for instance, searching for hotels in a specific location will bring back a list of entries from CityGuide with inline phone numbers. Searching for a movie will bring back results from an iPhone-optimized version of Moviefone, complete with inline times.
