Gadget Report - be.ez LAbesace Lime Drop Bag

Labesacelimedropopen_2Please click on the images for a full sized picture.

The be.ez people, a French company, sent me a review sample of this neat bag for the MacBook, or any other laptop of similar size.  The bag is really unusual looking, with the lime and gray color contrasts, and the shape is just different enough to attract the eye.  You'll stand out from the run of the mill stuff with this bag.

The details are nicely done, too.  For example, there is a business card holder, but it has a nice little cutout to allow you to slide out a card with your finger.  Here's a shot of the closed bag:

The front is stiff and there are a couple of easy to reach zipper pockets on the top and back of the bag.  All in all I am impressed with the bag, and it is really nice to carry something a bit different for a change.  Be.ez is a French company and they don't seem to have wide distribution in the US yet, but I did find the bag on Amazon for a reasonable, in my opinion, $74.99, along with some other intriguing stuff - all of which shows some real attention to design.  You can find the bag on the be.ez site here.  If you are a sucker for industrial design, which I'm afraid I am, check them out.

Watch out of what you hear in the Net

Here's one good subject blog posted by Tim Stevens at Switched here, where he mentioned on how much the growing number of religious podcast in the Net. Which he named this kind of religious podcast as "Godcast", to refer to its content that twirl around our world of faith. What really concerning is some of these Godcast are not all of them good and right, if we're not careful then we might be hearing mis-leading teachings instead of righteous knowledge we've known.

With only a cheap MP3 recorder at hand and a connected PC or laptop to the Net, everyone can broadcast their own version of Godcast to the world. On the other end, everyone with connected device to the Net can download those Godcast and play them whenever they wanted to. That's why I fear that on-line Godcast followers can be so much larger than we could imagine, I don't want to even think of what these mis-leaded followers capable of when they're mobilized to do wrong doing. The goverments, and I mean not only the USA goverment but also every countries' around the world, should establish a special agency that monitor and quickly take action on such dangerous Godcast.

Windows is in trouble (part. 2)

...continued from previous post.

How about for individual users then? Most of us are deeply affected with personal experience of interacting with our electronic devices, not only the touch & feels of the user interface; but also to the ease of use for daily dose of usage with those devices. MacDonald & Silver have bluntly said that iPhone's version of OS X is closer to the desktop version of the Mac OS than Windows Mobile is to Vista. This is true, with compatibility of applications on each OS platforms have become major issue on why we hate to use too many different OS together.

And with the much growing of web-based services offered in the internet, we can bring alternative software solutions into any OS platform we wish to choose. Where we won’t have to depend on one particular OS to run needed applications anymore, instead with web browser and internet connection; we can get our jobs done anywhere anytime.

That’s probably what Microsoft must think hard on what their next Windows should become, the complexity of Windows that runs on small form hardware could back fire to itself. Like Vista which needs high-end graphic in order to run it on full capacity, is in contrast to world’s demand for low-cost computers nowadays.

Personally I think this goes the same for mobile devices, where the size have shrunk but the features grow. Linux has become the favorite choice for smaller sized laptop with less power housed hardwares, Apple also has proved their Mac OS X that can be run on slimmest sized laptop; MacBook Air. While in mobile phone market, with the current Windows Mobile, mobile users will look to iPhone as their next alternative of choice especially when the most anticipated firmware 2.0 update release on June this year.

Priceless smile

I went visiting to my cousin's house today, he has a 2 years old little boy. When I arrived, the boy has just woke up and seemed shock to see a new person he never met before. He's been quiet ever since but kept looking at me, I was wondering on what I could do to cheer him up.

I got an idea to try take a picture of him with Treo, and asked the little guy to smile. It worked, he smiled and began to actively played again. I'm glad that I was able to connect with my cousin's son, although the pictures are no good since he kept moving around. It may looked trivial for some people, but I'm sure plenty of parents out there know how precious it is to see a smile of their little ones. Priceless.

Palm Quick Tip

Palm_tx Good Morning here with another Quick tip for the new Palm TX user.

Have you ever wanted to quickly see what programs you have been using or quickly get back to a previous program?

On the bottom of your Palm TX there are four buttons. The button on the far left has a house on it. This is your home button. Simply depress this button and continue to hold it down for a few seconds. Jus above this button a dialog box will pop us showing you your last six programs operations used. Simply tap the one you want to go to.

Now that was a cool Palm idea.

I sure am excited waiting for the next Palm great idea which I am sure will include a new OS and a far out hardware set up.

I am imagining a really simply and intuitive new OS with some really cool features.

Have a wonderful day!

TreoTwitter is now MoTwit

[From Charles Klass] One of those excellent little Palm programs that I tend to use on my Centro is MoTwit, does the trick helps me post via Twitter, it was called TreoTwitter and still remains free. "With this new 1.0 version we thought that our mobile Twitter application needed a name that reflect the fact that you can use MoTwit from several Palm OS devices (Centro, PDAs, Clié), not only from Treo devices." More after the jump. Thanks to Charles for giving me the heads up.

Golden Skull - Saeed's adventures 1.00

Golden Skull - Saeed's adventures 1.00This seems a great puzzle adventure game program where you seek undiscovered pyramids. "My name is Saeed. Till recently, I was a university student majoring in archaeology. I like archaeology a lot, but the perspective of becoming a scientist and getting buried under a pile of ancient books did not please me. Half a year ago, I discovered in myself the talent of a great poker player. I got involved into playing money, and I'm telling you I was not bad at that. A month ago I participated in a large private tournament the stakes were high, and I had to borrow a large amount... I've lost the game... I don't have the money to repay the debt. All my friends turned their backs on me, and I have no chance to return the money... If I don't repay the debt, I have only a week to live. Today I got a phone call. That was my professor William Wates from the university wondering if we could meet..." Golden Skull is a puzzle adventure game that will take you on an unforgettable journey through the undiscovered Mayas pyramids and long forgotten ruins. Featuring amazing graphics, and an entertaining story mode, Golden Skull delivers challenging gameplay with unbelievable production value. It's a puzzle adventure game the whole family will enjoy. "
