Palm Centro selling well with women, new and young users

[From Eric Mann] Eric spotted this in the San Francisco Chronicle and it seems the Palm Centro is helping Palm. "Palm hasn't released any sales figures on its Palm Centro smart phone, which debuted in October. But the company said early customer information suggests they've done a good job broadening Palm's appeal with the Centro. In a buyer survey, Palm found they have twice as many women Centro customers as they do with users of its traditional Treo products, which are more business friendly. The number of under-35 Centro users has also increased by 150 percent compared to other Palm users. And Palm found that 75 percent of Centro users moved up from a traditional phone, essentially all new customers for Palm. The Centro, at $99, is also appealing to more economy users. There are nearly three times the number of Centro users who have a household income less than $75,000, compared to other Palm customers. So what's it all mean? Well, while Palm is still struggling with increased competition from the iPhone, the Centro is helping it turn a corner." Read in full at the San Francisco Chronicle
