In other words, your in control and don't expect to get any work done because your going to be playing this game for hours.
Welcome to the Wild Wild West, back in the day when villagers were set up by “settlers” and where mining gold and lumbering timber was the main source of income on which people need to get by in life with no hassles. A time where supermarkets we not around and food truly was organic, where the local sheriff of his town rode on horse back, like the cat that really had got the cream and where a small town man was offered the bank managers daughter in offer of setting up new towns.
Well the last part cannot be said to be true of all classic westerns, however in Westward that is exactly what happens. The main character Maureen Fitzsimmons (Bank Managers Daughter) and Marion Morrison will lead the way through this digital life you must lead in the Wild West leaving you to focus on being the brains of the settlement. Being the main to characters they need to collect food and wood in order to start off the town and create a nice environment to attract other travellers to your town.
This game is highly addictive and though it takes time for you to settle in at the start it is definitely worth the wait. The game lets you control the inhabitants of the town, in which you have to house them and provide jobs, food and water so that they will not go hungry. The further you progress throughout the game, the more land you are given in different places and the more “settlers” you have to look after. You as the main leader are given the tasks to lead the settlers forward to a better standard of living and hopefully have all of your towns’ people in one piece when you finish.
The graphics of the game are excellent. As the player, you have so much to think about with the entire running of the settlement that the graphic, as long as they are readable, really do not need to be overwhelming.
The concept of the game itself is a really clever idea. Having to look after the trials and tribulations of running a town in which multiple characters live can be much like modern day life and having to look after each character individually is stressful at times and also means that you get quite attached to the town, because god forbid you should leave them as they will die, and you don’t want that on your hands now do you.
This game grabs your attention and keeps you hooked, no matter what is going on in the outside world, as each character, once they find a home and given a job, will look after themselves you must then find new ways to improve the village and maintain the lifestyle of those around you. As you arrive at the new settlement a task is presented to you which you have to work towards, I managed to complete the first settlement in which I had to raise money which had been lent off the bank in order to set up the first settlement. Once completed you move onto other sites in which you will be given a new task to work towards, all in all a good test of capability and organisational skill for the player.
To get an idea of the game, think of Sim City but more addictive. Once again Astraware have come up with another awe inspiring game which will leave the user playing Westward for hours. It's both gripping and addictive and leaving you for more. In summary one of the best games I have played on a mobile device period but don't count on getting any work done because you will be playing this game for hours. Top marks Astraware!!
