Here is a quick little tutorial for those of you who wish to tether your Asus EeePC to a Treo 680 for DUN

Here is a quick little tutorial for those of you who wish to tether your Asus EeePC to a Treo 680 for DUN. "OK, I couldn’t really wait for Palm to come out with their Foleo II, and since the Asus EeePC is very reasonably priced and looks so cute, I went ahead and got one yesterday, As connectivity is an important issue for me, one of the first things I did was to read up on how to use my Treo 680 as a dial up Modem. I am on a GPRS/Edge data package with my provider (Digi) and their APN is “diginet”, username:password is digi:digi so these instructions are specific to Digi and you can easily make the changes if you know the equivalent for your mobile phone provider. If you are on Evdo, you can substitute the instructions in steps 1-3 for Edge with the equivalent Evdo template" Read in full at the PalmDoc Chronicles.

The strangest mobile phone design that I have ever seen

[From Hans] If this was for real it would go down as the strangest mobile phone design that I have ever seen, the Alienware Phone running Google's Astroid.

Next-gen mobiles: a computer in every pocket

[From Hans] Hans emailed me the link to this interesting editorial at The Daily Telegraph which looks at some of the most innovative handsets that are bringing computers to your pocket, looking at what some of the big names are producing. "As mobiles become more powerful, looks are taking second place to features. That's why the content deals and business partnerships unveiled at events such as the Mobile World Congress can prove to be so significant. T-Mobile and Orange, for instance, have teamed up to run a commercial trial of mobile television technology in London that could prove significant in driving the sluggish uptake of mobile TV services. It could, in theory, lead to developments that will allow mobile-phone users to watch up to 100 channels, meaning the tuners built into devices such as the N96 could become much more commonplace." My favorite Palm Software - Agendus for Palm OS

[From Jon Rochester, NY] I've been hooked on Agendus for the past 4 years... Started with it on my Treo 90, and moved it to my 650 and now my 700P. I just can't stand the regular Palm Desktop on the PC and the contacts and calendar on the Palm. I got spoiled quickly by the advanced colors, icons, sorting features that Agendus has to offer.

[Agendus for Palm is available from Iambic]

Treo saves my life (kinda)

[From John Beckwith, Cape Cod] Scenario: Valentines Day Morning…
Set: My car, Route 3 North, commuting from Hyannis to Boston.
Heard on Radio: “Florists are just about out of flowers, if you have yet to order you will be out of luck”
Resolution: Pull over to a rest stop, Use Treo 650 to Web Browse “Hyannis, Florists”. Get a Florist Number Use Treo 650 to call Florist and order Roses for delivery. Answer Treo 650 2 hours later to hear from my wife “Thank you for the most beautiful Roses ever!” Take Picture of Roses that evening and set reminder for next year.

Putting Fresh Fonts on Your Palm

[From Ray Ebisuzaki] Hi Sammy, I've read & enjoyed Palmaddict for around 3 years. I'm also still very pleased with my Palm T3. FontSmoother has been updated this month, so I updated my Palm with it this week. Quite impressive update. For one thing, you can now put your font files on your memory card and run it from there (this will save space in your PDA memory). FontSmoother also gives you the liberty to choose a specific font for a specific program in your Palm. For example, I like a font similar to Times Roman for programs that I read text in (like ISilo & Plucker) because it's easier for me to read this type of font when I'm reading for speed. I also installed FontCollector which simply gave me more choices of fonts to use in FontSmoother. Having a new font for your programs can change the look & freshen your Palm experience!

Treo-crazy

[From Juan José Belmonte Torres ] Having dinner, a friend told me that whit all the aplications that I have in my Treo 755p I will got crazy... So I got my Treo 755p in that moment I check email, send an SMS open a word document and finally whit a simple program tune a guitar... So he got his Ipoud touch and... poor, he can`t do anything (there is no wi-fi in that place)... so he just began to hear music and I to play my guitar...

More Impressed Every Day

EeepcThe more I use my Asus Eee PC, the more impressed I am with how versatile it is. You can find tons of information on the different modifications that are being done on these by various users. There are people changing the stock screen out with a touch screen. I have seen mods that included extra usb ports, adding BT, adding GPS, broadband wireless cards . . .  Just about anything you could think of, someone is trying to add it to the Eee. I am not quite that adventurous. I don't even have any plans on installing WindowsXP. I am having too much fun exploring the default Linux OS. I am also staying with the default tabbed desktop for the forseeable future. It does everything I need. I have found that adding software to Linux is not really difficult. It's just a matter of find the right package to install.
Our home desktop PC recently had a major problem with the motherboard and since it was older, had to be completely rebuilt. I ordered the components and assembled everything last weekend. However, after getting everything put back together and re-installed, I haven't been using it much at all. I am using the Eee almost exclusively lately. Aside from my Treo, this has got to be the best electronic purchase decision that I have ever made.

Brando Case for Asus Eee PC

Aw2

Yesterday, I received the black leather case I ordered from Brando for my Asus Eee PC. Like the majority of the Brando products I have used over the years, the case is well made and looks great. I was looking for something that would give my Eee added protection for everyday use. The case fits well and has all the necessary cutouts. It also seems to have adequate vent holes over the vents. The Eee does get quite warm and it is important not to cover up any of the vents. I hate to make this quick review sound boring, but it has become rather routine to get such nice products from Brando.

Google Maps just rocks!

[From Jose R. Gutierrez Toronto, Canada] Hi Sammual James, I hope you and the rest of the Palm community had a great Valentine’s day. After a long day at work, and my wife’s busy day with our triplets, we had a great Valentine’s evening at home. And it was thanks, in part, to the amazing Google Maps application in my Treo 650. My daily commute back home goes through an intricate maze of little known small streets (once discovered by the also excellent Mapopolis), and while driving through it yesterday, the software My Location localized me to the nearest cellphone tower, and Google Maps found me on the way a flower shop where I bought some roses, and a couple of good Japanese restaurants for a good sushi dinner. Without these applications in my Treo, I would’ve spent too much time on the road, and probably would’ve spoiled the Valentine’s mood. I love my wife and children!
