My review of Glyph from Astraware

Glyph is an absolute fantastic game from Astraware. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzle games as it is jammed packed with different levels to keep you occupied for hours which would be great for on your travels. On entering into the game you will be asked to type your name in once you have done this click ok and then you will move to the main menu board which will give you various options from play right the way through to help.

Click on the play icon and then click on quest game. After you have clicked on this you will be given a full tutorial in great details with pictures to help you understand the play a little bit more I find this is a great tutorial and really gave me a proper insight on how to play the game. Once you are happy with the game play click on play and then you are ready to begin. On the game board you will see a swirl in the top left hand corner this is your timer make sure you complete the game within enough time then across from this you will see what world you are on and your score.

In the middle of the screen you will see a grid which is full of different coloured circles, the aim of the game is to eliminate three or more of the circles from the screen the bigger the combo you make the higher score you will receive. As you are removing the colours from the screen you will see that the brick behind the colours will slowly fade away after a few combos are made and underneath this is you will see like a white shining symbol you have to keep making combos of colours until the shining symbol which is known as part of a glyph is revealed. When this has been revealed you have completed the level and move onto the next level. All levels are played the same and in between each four levels you will see a black screen with the glyph pieces that you have revealed then you will be asked to watch the pattern the glyph pieces will start to flash in a sequence you have to memorise this and then it will ask you to begin following the sequence you memorised and if you get it right you will see how many points you receive upon touching each glyph piece you will have to complete three of these sequences before you can continue the to the next stage .

So there are approximatly 16 different levels in one world and there are five world’s you have to complete so as I said there are plenty of puzzles to solve. As you move up levels you get different things to help you along and like symbols that will change all the board into one colour making you a high score and a fresh board to start making combo’s from also there are flash bombs that will remove all the circles from the screen again giving you a fresh board to play on.

As you get further advance you will see black pebbles in the grid you cannot remove these in combo’s you have to wait till you get a flash bomb or one of the other extra’s before you can remove them don’t let the pebbles build up to high as you will not be able to complete the level and you will have to start again. Also as you get further up the levels you will notice that it takes longer to complete each level as the blocks behind the colours takes longer to break through so you have to be quick and complete as many combo’s as you can as quick as you can.

There is plenty more fun throughout this game but I will let you see for yourself and not spoil it for you. The graphics and colours on this game are excellent and makes it more fun to play. Glyph has got to be one of my favourite puzzles games along with Bejewelled and Titanic which are too fantastic games to play. Astraware you make simple games into fantastic gameplay. I would recommend Glyph to everyone of all ages it will certainly keep you entertained for hours.

Glyph is available from Astraware and retails for $19.95. It is available for both Palm OS and Windows Mobile. A free trial is also available for you to take advantage of.
