My personal thoughts on Cake Mania, Back to the Bakery

Ok so first thoughts, sequels are never as good as the originals, however they may be a slight exception to the rule when it comes to Cake Mania, and this is in fact probably better and more challenging than the first in its series.

However with the challenges and more characters, you can’t help but yearn for the original! But as they say that as wine grows with age so does Cake Mania! This game is unbelievable, so addictive and so much more worthwhile than I thought it would be. It teaches you to be organised and handy with your stylus, be careful not to make too many mistakes or this will prove to be a downfall and your profits will decrease.

Up to now I have completed one year and moved into the second year, each year gets more difficult and be prepared for the amount of customers who build up, ensuring you don’t lose one will help you in the long run. I found that when playing the game I found it was best to by the cake stand as one of the first kitchen wear, it was helpful when all the surfaces were taken and if you were to make the wrong cake this could help to advertise to another customer who may then decide to buy it and no profit is lost!

Another favourite item to buy of mine was the fast trainers. This will help you as the baker to zip about the kitchen ensuring that one of your cakes doesn’t end up in the bin, should you take to long to take it out of the oven. It will also help you to deliver the menus to customers, reducing the chance of them becoming too impatient and leaving the shop. I have to say that I have not lost a customer now so I cannot comment on how I feel about that, however it is obvious that I do not want to find out as it will be bad, the main aim of the game is to keep customers happy, so I’m thinking that losing one would be a bad idea!

Overall this game is definitely worth a play for all of those Cake Mania fans out there, who were addicted! This feeds the addiction, so much so that after a while you find yourself satisfied that all of your cakes have gone right for once! The graphics are just as good as the first and there are even new characters for you to entertain and as each level progress the design of the kitchen changes with the profits you make. This deserves 8 out of 10. I would give it nine, had it not been for the fact that if was hard to change your mind on a decision once it had been made. There seemed to be a split second difference where I knew that I had pressed the wrong move and tried to rectify this, however the damage had already been done and I had to accept my mistakes, no matter how hard that was for me!

This game is so addictive, that I wish there was a third part to them, however the duo itself satisfies all my bakers needs and I feel that if there were to be another I would never be off the games! What seems like an innocent game really grabs your attention. It's difficult to find games that keep you entertained for hours but this does. Well done Astraware on another brilliant concept game, with fantastic and addictive qualities. Cake Mania, Back to the Bakery is available from Astraware and retails for $14.95, a free trial is also available.
