A Mature User...
One of my favorite reasons for visiting the different PDA sites is that I always love reading about how people are using their devices. Recently, I have noticed that I have changed the way I have been using my Treo and this is what prompted my title of A Mature User. While I was a truck driver, I used my TX to check email, manage spreadsheets, and read ebooks. When I returned home for good, I received a Treo 755 for my birthday and generally used it for web surfing, email, and calendar. As of late, I reinstalled some software that I wasn't mature enough to use at the time. Titles like SplashMoney, SplashID, Agendus Pro, Audio Gateway, Chatteremail, Daynotez, and more. I don't know why, but I have never been an ebook reader on my Treo's...on any other device yes...must be the screen. SplashMoney came into its own by accident. Unintentionally, I took over the budget (my wife normally handles this due to my laziness) and I needed a way to be alerted of upcoming bills and a way to balance things out. I know that SplashMoney is capable of online service, but I haven't had good luck with that in the past. (Again, probably me.) SplashID has been growing its database since I can no longer remember all web logins and it's a safe repository for back up credit card data. Agendus Pro is a favorite because it adds some real firepower to my calendar and tasks, and I really like the different views. Even though Agendus Pro features its own email client, it is not one of my favorites. I used to be a staunch Snappermail supporter and while it is a great program, I do not like the way it handles IMAP. Since Gmail began offering IMAP I have been trying different clients and Chatteremail remains my favorite. While I stock at night, I like to listen to music or audiobooks, but the part I hate is the cord. So I finally coughed up the money for a Motorola S9 stereo bluetooth headset. So far, I like it, but I haven't had a chance to test it out at work. The only downside to it is that the way it floats behind your head, it isn't comfortable or feasible to be lying on your back (in bed or bench-pressing). The reason I bring up the S9 is because the Treo 755 does not support A2DP natively, so I needed to download Audio Gateway from Softick. All I can say is that I am amazed at the simplicity of the program and how well it works. Not that my boss micromanages me, but whenever the crew is behind in the morning when he comes in, he wants to know why. I have been using DayNotez to track potential efficiency issues along with dates and times of disciplinary issues, load shortages, and more. By becoming a more mature user I have come to depend on my Treo, not just want it around in case I'm bored, but truly need to complete my day.
Hi, my name is Scott. I'm a 27 year old, married, father of two, and I am a Palm Addict...
P.S. Thanks to the wonderful people at Proporta, I will soon have a 3300 mAh monster of a battery to review. I know that I used PowerHero to trim back power uses, but I am curious as to how much stress this power user can put on this battery and how it will stand up. Lastly, a quick shout-out to Sammy for getting me addicted to FaceBook, now I really cannot put down my Treo.
