SplashData has an awesome product for all business (& personal) travelers out there. It is called SplashTravel Professional Edition . Thanks to Kevin Doel I recently got to test this product. It is actually so much more than just a single product. In fact it does so many things that it is hard to pick what to talk about first. The opening screen that is set after you pick your current location and home location has a clock, calendar, weather forecast, and time and date of both your current and home locations. With the Professional Edition the subscription allows you to update your weather and more. In other updatable sections, you can track current flight schedules and currency exchange rates. This ability to update the information to the most current available data via your network connection is a real plus when you need to know what gate your plane is leaving from or if you are getting a fair currency exchange rate or if you should pack a raincoat for your destination.
Some additional features that make this program the complete travel package is an alarm package where you can set multiple alarms; a tip calculator where you can determine what percentage you want to leave and if you are sharing the bill with another individual; a “to do” section for your trip; and an expense tracker where you can keep items by specific types and in various currencies.
This doesn’t even include the wonderful convenience of having country codes and US area codes at your finger tips as well as conversion charts for the metric system and clothing & shoes tables for European, UK & Japanese sizes.
My favorite feature of the package though has to be luggage checklist. I only wish I had this during my first international trip. It would have saved me days of staring around my apartment and making list upon list. It has several major sections for garments, hygiene, medicine, documents, baby stuff, gear, and the most important to PalmAddicts everywhere, “Electronics”. You can add to this list if there are additional things you want but it is a great starting point and includes some things that you may forgot about without this list such as alarm clock, batteries, umbrella, translation dictionary, etc.
Splash Travel also includes a world clock that quickly shows what sections of the world are in day or night; a program that shows the time here is 6p so it is 11p in London or 2a in Doha as well as a variation where you can figure out if it were Sunday at 1p here it is 2 am Monday in Sydney, Australia and I probably shouldn’t call my friend/co-worker/significant other unless they are a night owl.
All these features combine to form an awesome travel bundle for making your trip more convenient and less stressful which I always find to be a plus no matter if the trip is for business or pleasure. A 15 day trial is available to take out for test drive. I would recommend you trying it out for your next trip. You will soon want it for all your trips. I know I do.
